CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--The Western New England University women's volleyball team lost three tough matches this weekend at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Quadrangular Tournament held at the Rockwell Cage/duPont Gymnasium. The Golden Bears have lost three-straight for the first time this season to fall to 16-10.
On Friday, senior
Kasey Cameron pumped in 12 kills and .320 hitting to pace the Golden Bear offense against Colby College but the Mules came away with a 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21 victory. Junior
Olivia Lathrop, who represented Western New England on the all-tournament team, added 10 kills on .217 hitting and three assists. Freshman
Carly Skibinski spiked nine kills and hit .286.
The Golden Bears, however, hurt themselves by giving Colby free points on 16 service errors. Western New England also couldn't overcome an opening stanza that saw it hit for a .069 percentage as a team.
Western New England began Saturday's action with a heartbreaking 22-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13 loss to Oneonta State. Junior

Jessica Sincero (23 assists),
Skibinski (.294), Cameron (4 service aces, 7 digs) and Lathrop (2 blocks) with seven apiece. Senior

Jenna Leuck had a match-high 17 digs and senior
Kendra Ouimette added 14 along with five service aces.
Hannah O'Neil (.261) and Jill Darpino (.214) led the Red Dragons with 11 kills each. Jessica Pelaccio directed the offense with 25 assists and Allyson Coniglione made 16 digs.
Western New England won the opening set by three points while outhitting Oneonta .219 to .071. The Golden Bears took a 2-1 lead by attacking for a .269 clip and benefiting from several of the Red Dragons' 15 service errors on the day.ÂÂ
But for the match, Oneonta held advantages in attack percentage (.221 to .102), team blocks (8 to 3) and kills (55 to 45). Western New England was able to stay in the match by serving up 14 aces.
In the finale of the tournament, Western New England was downed by host MIT, which is receiving votes in the national Division III rankings, in a competitive four-set match, 25-16, 25-11, 21-25, 26-24. Lathrop had 14 of WNE's 38 kills and five total blocks. Setters Leuck and Sincero had 17 and 13 assists, respectively.
Jenny Astrachan led MIT (22-2 overall) with 19 kills and .405 hitting, while Megan Gebhard came off the bench to slam 16 and .364. Setter Nicole Gagnier found the open hitters to the tune of 44 assists, as the Engineers outhit the Golden Bears .271 to .111.
Senior
Grace Kucharski led three WNE student-athletes in double-digit digs with 12, and Cameron and Ouimette had 10 apiece. Tori Wuthrich had 17 for MIT.
