Paige Young had a season-high 11, but No. 6 seed Western New England's season came to an end with a 72-68 loss to third-seed Endicott in the quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship on Tuesday at MacDonald Gymnasium at the Post Center.
The Golden Bears finish 10-16 while Endicott takes a 20-6 record into its CCC semifinals match-up at No. 2 Roger Williams (Thursday at 7 p.m.), which defeated #7 Nichols 71-58.
Kelsey Cuddy led a balanced Gulls offense with 18 points, followed by Jennifer White with 16, Samantha Crough had 15 and Julie Manning contributed 10.
Endicott took a 35-30 halftime lead and built a 15-point cushion, 49-34, with 15 minutes and 32 seconds left to play. The advantage continued to be in double-digits, 62-49, after a White trey at the 8:42 mark before WNE pushed back with a fury.
Young keyed an 11-0 run in a span of 2:22 with six points to get WNE back in it at 62-60 with 6:03 remaining.
With WNE closing in, White nailed four straight points to get the lead back to six for Endicott, 66-60. But, the Golden Bears responded with a pair of jumpers from Eckert and McCann to make the score 66-64. For the next three minutes neither side could find the basket until 1:14 was left on the clock as McCann tied up the game at 66.
Then with the game on the line, Crough drove to the basket with 47 seconds left to get a traditional three-point play to go up by three. Eckert made two free throws to bring the Golden Bears within one point.
With the Gulls leading 69-68, White made 3 of 4 free throws in the final 24 seconds to seal the victory.

Despite losing the game, the Golden Bears edged out a slight rebounding lead with 38 over Endicott's 36. Western New England's
Chelsea Vujs (7 points) led all student-athletes with 11 rebounds, and Young added four. For Endicott, Manning and Kayleen Whall pulled down eight apiece.
Eckert's career night came on 5 of 12 field goal shooting, including 4 of 6 from three-point land, and 5 of 6 free throw attempts while seeing 26 minutes. Her previous career high of 18 points came earlier this season against Wesleyan-Conn.

Western New England shot 40.0 percent from the field on 24 of 60 shooting and had a free-throw percentage of 68.2 percent going 15 of 22 from the line.

Endicott shot 46.7 percent from the field on 28 of 60 shooting and had a free-throw percentage of 80 percent going 12 of 15 from the line.
Western New England's bench outscored the Endicott reserves 35-15. The contest featured five ties and 12 lead changes.
