Jessica Scannapieco had a game-tying seven points and led all student-athletes with six ground balls and 15 draw controls to lead Western New England University to a 19-11 victory Saturday over host University of New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women's lacrosse contest at Big Blue Turf, clinching a share of the conference regular-season title. The Golden Bears improve to 16-0 overall and 7-0 in the CCC standings, while the Nor'easters fall to 8-7 and 3-4.

Taylor Scialdone matched teammate Scannapieco with a game-high seven points, including a game-best six goals. Scannapieco scored three times and assisted on four goals, and sophomore
Bethany Peters added a hat trick.
Nikki Smith led UNE with three goals, followed by Hannah Tavella (2 goals, 1 assist), Gina Newsome (2 goals, 1 assist), Jocelyn Davee (2 goals, 1 assist) and Jessica Deedon (3 assists) with three points apiece.

Emily Castleman improves to 15-0 on the season and her counterpart Courtney Kendall falls even to 6-6 on the season.
The Nor'easters got on the scoreboard first at the 24:05 mark of the first half when Tavella took a feed from Newsome and found the back of the net.
Western New England forged a 2-1 lead that it wouldn't relinquish as Scialdone scored back-to-back goals 2 minutes and 1 second apart beginning at 23:30 on the clock.
Holding a slim 3-2 edge, WNE tallied six unanswered goals in a 10:13 span to take a commanding 9-2 cushion. The Golden Bears closed the half by scoring four of the next six goals for a 13-4 lead at the intermission.
The Golden Bears used a strong possession game, doubling up UNE 21 to 10 in draw controls, to set up their offense. Scannapieco tied her career-high with 15 draw controls and had two caused turnovers, while Deedon led UNE with five.
UNE outscored the Golden Bears 7-6 over the last 30 minutes, including three consecutive tallies to open the second half and pull within 13-7.
Western New England, however, responded with a pair of three-goal spurts sandwiched around Hannah Warren's man-down goal at 19:58 left. Peters sparked the rally with an unassisted goal to double the lead at the time, 14-7, before WNE scored four consecutive man-up goals to put the game away.
Western New England will close the regular season on Wednesday (4 p.m.) when the Golden Bears host Gordon College at Golden Bear Stadium.
