Freshman Danielle Dixon's First Career Goal Beats Eastern Nazarene in Overtime, 1-0

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Freshman substitute Danielle Dixon made her first collegiate points memorable as she banged home the lone goal of the game just 46 seconds into overtime to lift Western New England to a 1-0 victory Saturday over visiting Eastern Nazarene in the Commonwealth Coast Conference women's soccer opener for both squads at Suprenant Field. The visiting Lions drop to 3-4 overall while the Golden Bears improve to 2-3-1 to treat the Homecoming crowd.

Western New England junior Briana Kubik made four saves to overtake the CCC lead with 36 on the season, while posting her second shutout. The Lions' Kristen Farley faced five shots but did not make a stop.

The Golden Bears starting defense of senior tri-captain Gabrielle Bates, juniors Jessica Burke and Erica Parlavecchio and freshman Marielle Caron--along with Kubik--combined to give WNE its third team shutout of the fall.

Eastern Nazarene had 10 shots, led by Hannah Scahill with three.

Western New England will step out of CCC play on Tuesday to travel to South Hadley for a non-conference encounter at Mount Holyoke, kicking off at 6 p.m.
