MANHATTAN, N.Y.--Led by all-tournament selections

Grace Kucharski and
Olivia Lathrop, the Western New England University women's volleyball team went undefeated in three matches at the New York University Violet Classic at the Coles Sports Center on Saturday. The Golden Bears defeated Sarah Lawrence College 25-3, 25-11, 25-16, Oneonta State 25-23, 25-15, 20-25, 25-17 and Potsdam State 25-15, 25-16, 25-20 to improve to 11-4 on the season.
Western New England joined the host Violets and Richard Stockton College as the only 3-0 teams in the tournament. Oneonta, Potsdam and Sarah Lawrence all went 0-3. The Golden Bears had a Classic-high three all-tournament picks, which also included Most Valuable Player Nicole Frias (NYU), Emily Grube (Richard Stockton), MaTia Hughes (NYU) and Macy Schwartz (Richard Stockton).

Carly Skibinski and Lathrop led a WNE offense that collectively hit .310 with six kills and .333 hitting apiece. Sophomore setter
Jenna Leuck recorded a match-high 17 assists.
Western New England got off to a fast start, a 22-point win in the first set, thanks to a .409 attack percentage on 10 kills in 22 attempts with just one error. SLC couldn't solve the WNE front row after hitting for a negative-.148.

Jessica Sincero (5 kills, .714) also led a strong service game for the Golden Bears, who posted 12 aces. Senior
Kendra Ouimette added three aces to push her career total to 226 (after the day was complete), which is fifth in school history.
Western New England went up 2-0 versus the Red Dragons in its second match of the day despite getting outhit .300 to .034 in the first set. But the Golden Bears distributed a season-best 17 aces, led by Kucharski who had six to give her 215 for her career (6th all-time at WNE). Ouimette added five aces.
Skibinki led all attackers with 11 kills and she hit .450 on 20 swings with only two errors. Sincero (5 kills, 7 digs) and Leuck (11 digs) had 17 and 16 assists, respectively.
Kucharski finished with 16 digs in a match that featured 24 ties and nine lead changes.
In the final outing of the day, Cameron shined with 12 kills (.444) and Lathrop added 11 as the former almost had as many put-downs as Potsdam did as a team (16). Sincero (20 assists) and Leuck (12) continued to find open Golden Bear attackers who racked up 36 kills (.217) compared to 16 (-.043) for the Bears.
Just like SLC and Oneonta, WNE had another strong service plan versus Potsdam with 15 more aces. Five different Golden Bears had three apiece.
Western New England will seek to extend its win streak to four on Wednesday (7 p.m.) when the Golden Bears host Gordon College in the Commonwealth Coast Conference opener for both squads.
