WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--Western New England shot a two-day total of 307+305=612 to finish in third place at the 20-team Williams College Fall Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club that concluded on Sunday.
In their opening weekend, the Golden Bears went from tied for seventh place after the first round with Skidmore College to climbing four spots to third and edging the Thouroughbreds by one stroke over the last 18 holes.Sophomore John Abbott led WNE with a 74+76=150 for tied for seventh overall, followed by classmate Mike Metcalf (77+75=152, T-14th), and juniors Joe DaSilva (77+77=154, T-21st), Nick Shemkovitz (79+77=156, T-27th), Matt Fontaine (87+80=167, T-76th).Â
Trinity College (301-300=601) began the day three shots back but ended victorious after an impressive display of skill and consistency. Will Rosenfield (73-70=143), who took home individual medalist honors, anchored the Bantams with a superb final round of 1-under-par. Trinity senior Jeff Durkin (75-71=144) also contributed a very strong performance this weekend, finishing inside the top five. Cam O'Connell (75-79=154) and Nick Choukas (78-80=158) topped off the Bantams' final round total.

Williams College (309-296=605) mounted an impressive comeback, firing a tournament-low team score of 296 in today's final round.

Next weekend, tournament competition will take place at Middlebury College for the Panthers' annual fall event, the Duke Nelson Invitational which is held at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
