Duke Nelson Invitational Results - Day 1

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.--The Western New England University men's golf team shot a score of 318 for a seventh-place tie with University of Rochester after the opening day of the 32nd Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course on Saturday. Second-round play is set to tee off at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Sophomore John Abbott and junior Matt Fontaine tops Western New England with each a 7-over-par 78 for tied for 15th overall, followed by the freshman debut of Albert Hansrisuk (79, T-28th), sophomore Mike Metcalf (83, T-70th), and junior Joe DaSilva (86, T-96th).

Williams leads the 25-team field with a 305, followed by Rensselaer (309), Babson (311) and Trinity-Conn. (315). The host Panthers sit in 11th place with a 320 after 18 holes.
