Complete ResultsMIDDLEBURY, Vt.--The Western New England University men's golf squad shaved eight strokes off its total from the opening round to finish with a 318+310=628, which was good for eighth place out of 25 teams at the 32nd Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course on Sunday.
Sophomore Mike Metcalf had a terrific second 18 holes as he was an 83+74=157, improving 48 spots to a tie for 22nd overall after being in T-70th on Saturday. Rounding out the Western New England lineup were freshman Albert Hansrisuk (79+79=158, T-33rd), junior Matt Fontaine (78+81=159, T-39th), sophomore John Abbott (78+82=160, T-49th) and junior Joe DaSilva (86+76=162, T-56th).Williams won the team title with a 305+309=614, five strokes ahead of Babson (619). Rensselaer (622) placed third, followed by Salem State (523) and the host Panthers in ninth (629). Jacob Watt-Moris of Williams took home medalist honors, firing a 69 on day one followed by a 79 for a two-day total of 148.
