SPRINGFIELD, MA - Smith College scored a pair of goals in each half for a 4-1 victory over Western New England in a non-conference women's soccer match Tuesday (Sept. 29) at Suprenant Field.
The Pioneers raised their record to 4-2-3 while the Golden Bears drop to a 2-7-2.
WNE allowed an own goal in the 12th minute before
Emily Smith (with an assist from
Maya McCann) scored in the 20
th minute for the Pioneers.
The contest was scoreless for the 31 minutes, 28 seconds until
Samantha Emmert got the Golden Bears on the board (with an assist from
Karoline Sperber) in the 51
st minute.
Smith countered with goals from
Jackie Foody (from
GiGi Ross) at the 66:55 mark and
Jordan Isaacs (from
Isabella Ayvaz) with 1:57 left to complete the scoring.
Two goalkeepers played for Western New England with
Briana Kubik making seven saves and allowing three goals in 71 minutes, 1 second.
Marissa Veilleux permitted the final goal in her 18:59 in the net.
Smith also employed two keepers with
Shelby Hall stopping three shots in the opening half and
Camryn Biasin making one save in the second stanza.
