SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Western New England University women's tennis team fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference champion and 2015 preseason favorite Endicott College in its CCC opener, 7-2, on Saturday at the Volvo Outdoor Courts. Both teams are 1-1 on the season as Endicott is 1-0 in the conference.
Junior co-captain Joeanna Glantz and sophomore Lauren Sell teamed up at No. 1 doubles to help the Golden Bears cut into the Gulls lead to 2-1 entering the singles competition. The duo defeated Mackenzie Rhodes and Maxine Bergstein in a 9-7 thriller.
Sophomore Christina D'Agostino earned Western New England's other point of the day at No. 3 singles with a comeback victory over Alexi Losano, 0-6, 6-3, 10-7.
For Endicott, Margot Andreasen, Reilly Fitzgibbons and Lauren Rahr were double winners.
Western New England stays in the conference circuit with a Tuesday date (4 p.m.) at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Endicott travels to Bridgewater State on Tuesday for a non-conference tilt.
