Box Score Allison Jackson scores lone goal for Golden Bears
BEVERLY, Mass. (October 26, 2016) – Sophomore forward Sophia Cogliano (Saugus, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal early in the second half as the Endicott College field hockey team posted a 2-1 victory over Western New England University this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at North Field.
Top Performers
• Western New England junior forward Allison Jackson (Mahopac, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season on a feed from classmate Brittany DeLima (Branchville, N.J.).
• Cogliano factored into both Endicott goals, scoring the game-winner after assisting on junior midfielder Madi Wood's (Bristol, Vt.) first half tally.
Game Review
• Cogliano set up Wood for the game's opening goal just over one minute into the contest.
• Jackson equalized for the Golden Bears at the 10:14 mark, when she tipped a pass from DeLima past Endicott senior goalie Cheka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.).
• Cogliano put the Gulls back in front for good in the 41st minute, as she collected a rebound after junior defender Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) hit the post and scored her tenth goal of the season.
• Western New England put three shots on goal and recorded three penalty corners the rest of the way, but the Golden Bears were unable to find the back of the net. Junior forward Michelle Carlson (Hackettstown, N.J.) had a scoring opportunity late in regulation, but Endicott junior midfielder Samantha Crowley (Leicester, Mass.) came up with a defensive save to preserve the win for the Gulls.
Notes
• DeLima leads the CCC by a wide margin with 16 assists this season. She leads the Golden Bears and ranks fourth in the conference with 36 points (ten goals).
• Cogliano also scored the game-winner in Endicott's 3-2 win over Western New England in Springfield back on September 28.
• Junior goalie Grace Trupe (Cardiff, Calif.) finished with five saves in the setback.
• Endicott outshot Western New England 17-9 and held a 7-4 edge in penalty corners.
