MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (September 29, 2018) – The Western New England University men's soccer team overcame a pair of one-goal deficits before eventually falling to Salve Regina University 3-2 on Saturday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Gaudet Field.

Top Performers
Junior forward Connor Prindle (Shelton, Conn.) and sophomore defender Dan Bronke (South Deerfield, Mass.) both scored second half equalizers for the Golden Bears.

Salve Regina utilized three different goal scorers as junior Donald Igo (Needham, Mass.) and sophomores Nolan Marino (Killingworth, Mass.) and Owen Stevenson (Middletown, Conn.) all found the back of the net.

Game Review
Salve Regina opened the scoring 24:49 into the contest on a goal by Igo that came after a pair of Evan MacDonald (Candia, N.H.) corner kicks.

The Seahawks maintained their advantage throughout the remainder of the half and into the early part of the second half, until Prindle netted the equalizer for the Golden Bears on a feed from sophomore Josh Labonte (Ludlow, Mass.) in the 58th minute. Senior Nick Liccardi (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) also played a role in the goal as his initial shot was saved by Salve Regina senior goalkeeper Michael Payan (Fort Lee, N.J.) before Labonte collected the rebound.

With the score still tied late in the half, Stevenson put the Seahawks back in front with the help of an assist from senior Jordan Elster (Sutton, Mass.) at 83:28.

The Golden Bears would pull even for a second time with just under three minutes left in regulation on Bronke's first career goal, but Marino secured the game-winner for Salve Regina 2:07 into the extra period.
