Box Score MILTON, Mass. (October 16, 2021) – The Golden Bears came out victorious on the road earlier today at Curry College where Western New England fought from behind to defeat the Colonels 23-10 in a CCC match-up.

How It Happened:
The Golden Bears started off the contest with a bang, as senior Adam Razza returned the game's opening kickoff 91 yards untouched for a touchdown. The extra point sailed wide, and the Golden Bears jumped ahead 6-0 just 12 seconds in. Curry responded midway through the opening quarter, with a nine-play, 44-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run followed by a good PAT to give Curry a 7-6 lead that would hold through the remainder of the quarter.
The first drive of the second quarter for the Golden Bears was successful with Western New England driving for 11 plays for 52 yards. The drive ended with a 35-yard field goal from Matt Gilbert as the only scoring of the second quarter. The Golden Bears went into halftime ahead 9-7.
Western New England extended its lead to two scores just over six minutes into the second half after a six play, 30-yard drive. Running back EJ Dudley punched one in from a yard out followed by a good PAT, pushing the Golden Bears' advantage to 16-7.
Curry got back to within six at 16-10 with a field goal early in the fourth quarter. On the impending Golden Bear drive, Curry forced a fumble that gave Curry the ball with a chance to take the lead. On Curry's very first play after regaining possession however, Aaron Lamar jumped in front of a pass for a momentum-shifting interception. Six plays later, the Golden Bears clinched the victory when Steven Fedorchak caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Carlos Martin Nieto, putting Western New England ahead 23-10.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Golden Bears ended the game with 312 yards of offense, 220 passing and 92 rushing. Western New England was 100% efficient on fourth downs recording 18 first downs in the game.
- Martin Nieto led the team to victory completing 16 of 24 passes for a total of 220 yards with one touchdown.
- Dudley led the running backs with 17 carries for 57 yards and one touchdown while Dillon Kohl recorded 10 carries for 26 yards.
- Fedorchak converted again this game with one touchdown on seven catches for 103 yards while Greg Perry, Connor Dunn and Matt Eylander all recorded two catches apiece.
- Gilbert went 1-for-1 on field goals at 35 yards and 2-for-3 on extra points for a total of five points in the game.
- Razza opened the game with an impressive 91-yard kickoff return and tallied 110 yards in returns for the game.
- Both Ippokratis Georgiadis and Lamar recorded interceptions in the game with Lamar returning his for 30 yards.
- Joshua Salem led the team with 10 tackles and a sack for a loss of four yards while Erich Keutmann recorded nine tackles.
