How it Happened:
Through the first five minutes of the game, the Golden Bears got the best chances after being awarded with two quick corner kicks and taking one shot on goal. Although the Golden Bears got off to a quick start, the Hawks would tally their first goal in the game on their first shot of the game. After GK Molly McLaughlin had vacated the net, Bianca Robbins sent a ball through to Ariana Montero who took the ball and ripped a shot from the top left part of the box, into the middle of the net to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead. Montero grabs her fifth goal of the season with the shot.
Western New England would not wait around to respond to the Hawks goal, as just 2 minutes and 11 seconds later Summer Hathaway would take a shot on goal that would hit the crossbar and come back into the field of play. After the ball ricochetted around inside the box, the Golden Bears would find it and Danielle McCarthy would head the ball down and into the goal to tie the game at one. McCarthy notches her third goal of the season. The two teams would end the first half tied at one all, though the Golden Bears would dominate the stats department, taking ten shots to Roger Williams' two. WNE took the only four corner kicks in the first half as well. McLaughlin came through with one save on two shots on goal in the half by the Hawks.
As they did in the first half, the Golden Bears would dominate the second half taking care of Hawks. In the 58thminute, Western New England would come up with a goal to break the tie. Senior Allison Bruehwiler would take a shot on goal that would be saved by Morgan McCutcheon, though the rebound was taken in by Danielle McCarthy, who was able to tally her second of the afternoon to give the Golden Bears the 2-1 lead. The Golden Bears would continue their dominance on the field and score again in the 73rd minute to virtually put the game out of reach for the Hawks. Emily Chojnicki would send a through pass to Jordan Pare and Pare would tuck the ball away for the Golden Bears to give them the big 3-1 lead. Roger Williams would be unable to come up enough chances to get by the Golden Bears, as Western New England would take the game 3-1.
