Swim Opens 2021-22 Season Defeating UMass Dartmouth 86-84

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (October 30, 2021) – The Western New England women's swimming team opened the 2021-22 season on the road against UMass-Dartmouth where the Golden Bears came out victorious 86-84 to start the season 1-0.

Western New England had five first-place finishes in the meet to help lift them over the Corsairs. The first event was the 200-yard medley relay. A team comprised of Sydney Boussy, Hailey Dion, Alexa Adams and Caitlin Hall claimed first in 2:19.94 in the event. Hall then went on to win the 200-yard free in 2:19.60 to score nine points for the team.

Emily Sarno won the 50-yard free in 28.68 for a total of nine points for Western New England while Adams came in third in 30.73. Amanda Walsh competed in the 100-yard butterfly and won the event in 1:31.83 for nine more points for the Golden Bears. The final first-place win for the Golden Bears came in the 200-yard freestyle relay where Dion, Sarno, Boussy and Hall all teamed together to win the race in 59.70.

Up Next:

The Golden Bears continue their season on Saturday, November 6th when they host their first meet of the season against Westfield St. at 12 p.m.
