Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 3, 2021) – The Western New England University women's lacrosse team opened their season with a 22-9 victory over Wentworth in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium.
Top Performers
Junior Hannah Jarvis led the way for the Golden Bears with six goals. Sophomore Kylie Buchanan scored four goals while junior Liz Mazza scored three goals and junior Samantha Vitka scored two goals and dished out three assists.
Junior Sarah Galan scored four goals and had two assists for the Leopards while freshman Olivia Murray had two goals and two assists.
Game Review
Western New England wasted no time getting on the board, with Jarvis scoring just 40 seconds into the game. With the score at 3-2, the Golden Bears scored six straight goals to push the lead to 9-2. Western New England kept their foot on the gas, scoring another five goals before the end of the half, taking a commanding 14-5 lead going into the second half.
The Golden Bears took the momentum into the second half, scoring four of the first six goals with four different goal scorers. Buchanan scored a second half-trick while Jarvis scored another two on top of the four she scored in the first half.
