How It Happened:

The ball game opened with the Golden Bears hitting the first layup of the game. The Roger Williams Hawks answered with a layup of their own. The game was quickly tied up at 4-4 after a couple more exchanges, until the Hawks started their run. At the 6:21 mark of the first the score was 10-4 with the Hawks in the lead. The Golden Bears' Abby Garaban laid-up another shot to close the score gap a little, but Roger Williams responded with another layup and a three-pointer while WNE went scoreless for almost three minutes of play. The score was now 15-8, Roger Williams at the 3:47 mark, and with a minute left in the first quarter they had increased the lead to 10 points. Grace Fisher hit some shots to break-up the double-digit lead, but a Roger Williams jump shot at 00.02 put it back up 10 to end the quarter 22-12.

After no one hit a shot for multiple plays on either team, The Hawks stopped the missed shot streak at 8:30 in the second quarter by making a layup. The first Golden Bear points of the quarter came on the foul-line. They remained down by at least 10 points until Julia Quinn hit a jumper with 5:45 on the clock for a score of 26-18, the Hawks. The Golden Bears again go a long period of time without knocking in a shot, and The Hawks had put back up an 11-point lead. Another Garaban layup brought the lead down to nine with three minutes left in the half, but they don't make a bucket again until 32 seconds left in the first half of play. Roger Williams led the game at the half for a score of 35-22.

Fisher knocked in two points at the free throw line to begin the third quarter of action. Roger Williams shot in two more baskets before Fisher shot another shot from the foul-line. The first points that didn't come from free-throws for WNE in the third was a layup by Shaina Cooney at 6:08 for a score of 39-27, Roger Williams. WNE again closed the score gap to 10 points from another Fisher shot on the foul-line. Cooney broke the double-digit third quarter lead at 3:18 from a layup, score at 42-34, but WNE could not put-up shots, and they could not stop the Hawks from scoring. The Golden Bears made one more basket in the quarter. Roger Williams was up 52-36 entering the final quarter of play.

Roger Williams had the first five points of the fourth quarter, almost at a 20-point lead for a score of 55-36. The Golden Bears were still only knocking in foul shots. The first points for them that didn't come from the foul line this quarter was with 6:37 left in the game from a layup by Sam Bodey. WNE continued to fight to get back into the game. They brought the lead back down to 10 points at 2:07 for a score of 59-49 from another bucket by Fisher. Unfortunately, that was as close as the Golden Bears could crawl back in the game. Roger Williams continued to hit shots while WNE only scored again on the foul line with less than a minute in the game. The Golden Bears lost to Roger Williams with a final score of 65-51.
