WNE got off to a quick start as Madisyn Crotta opened the scoring for Western New England just 25 seconds into the game on an assist from Hannah Jarvis to give the Golden Bears a 1-0 lead. From there, Roger Williams would take control and shut down any offensive opportunities for the Golden Bears and cashing in on all their chances, taking a quick lead after surrendering the first goal. RWU would take the lead just four minutes after the Golden Bears would score as Brooke McErian and Ryleigh Cavanaugh would score two quick Hawk goals to give RWU the 2-1 lead. Roger Williams would take over much of the offense for the game as the Hawks scored seven straight goals to end the first quarter, leading by six after 15 minutes of play. RWU came away with 17 shots while WNE collected just five in the opening quarter.

More of the game energy and offense from the Hawks carried over into the second quarter as Roger Williams stuffed an extra six goals into the back of the net to take a big 13-1 lead after two quarters of play. WNE made nine turnovers in the second quarter and 12 in the opening half while the Hawks made just three turnovers in the half. The Hawks outshot Western New England 30-6 through 30 minutes of play. Faith Graveline made eight saves for the Golden Bears in the first half.

Western New England's offensive game was silenced by Roger Williams as the Hawks came away with four goals in the third quarter, scoring 17 straight in the contest. Western New England would break the Hawks streak of 17 straight with a man-up goal with 1:30 to play in the third quarter when Liz Mazza buried a free-position shot, giving Western New England their second goal of the afternoon. The Golden Bears managed three shots in the third quarter.

Samantha Vitka and Kylie Buchanan would collect goals for the Golden Bears to open the fourth quarter of play with WNE trailing by 13 after the two tallies.
