WENHAM, Mass. (October 14, 2023) – The Western New England women's swimming team fell on the road in their season opener at Gordon College on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 119-118 contest.

How it Happened:
The Golden Bears' first meet of the year started with the 200-yard Medley Relay. The team of Caitlin Guntly, Amanda Robinson, Olivia Emanuele, and Caitlin Hall captured first place for the Golden Bears with a time of 2:07.96. The 1000-yard Freestyle was the next event. It saw Megan Morrissey swim and get third place. Morrissey finished with a time of 13:32.84. The 200-yard Freestyle race saw Olivia Emanuele and Julia Remiszewski finish first and second. Emanuele swam a 2:19.96, and Remiszewski swam a 2:23.22. Alexa Adams also swam the race with a time of 2:36.25. The 50-yard Backstroke was after the 200 freestyle. Caitlin Guntly grabbed first place with a time of 33.76. Hannah Delude finished in fourth place with a time of 51.50. The 50-yard breaststroke had Gianna Calabrese competing for the Golden Bears. Calabrese earned a time of 44.09 and finished fourth. It was then time for the 100-yard Butterfly. Olivia Emanuele won another race by swimming the race in a time of 1:11.39. That was followed by a 50-yard Freestyle win by Caitlin Hall. Hall swam a 28.06. Gianna Calabrese and Hannah Delude finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Calabrese finished with a 35.87, and Delude finished with a 44.12. Caitlin Hall swam again in the 100-yard Freestyle. Hall swam a time of 1:03.53 and grabbed second place. Caitlin Guntly followed that race with a first-place finish in the 100-yard Backstroke. Guntly finished with a time of 1:07.99. The 100-yard Breastroke then saw Amanda Robinson claim second place with a time of 1:21.07. Then, Megan Morrissey and Gianna Calabrese placed second and fourth, respectively, in the 500-yard Freestyle. Morrissey finished with a time of 6:24.40, and Calabrese finished with a time of 7:26.37. Shortly after, Olivia Emanuele and Alexa Adams would place first and second in the 50-Yard Butterfly. 30.98 was Emanuele's time, and 32:59 was Adams' time. The 100-yard IM was won by Amanda Robinson, with Caitlin Hall taking second place. Robinson swam a time of 1:13.36, and Hall swam a time of 1:15.94. The meet would end with the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. WNE's team of Remiszewski, Delude, Adams, and Morrissey would finish second with a time of 2:09.81. The Gordon College Fighting Scots would win by a final score of 119-118.
