Springfield, Mass. (October 28, 2023) – The Golden Bears returned home for their first home meet of the season. They welcomed in the Owls of Westfield State University. After a great meet, the Owls would win the final race of the afternoon and win the meet by three points.

How it Happened:
The Golden Bears and Owls started the meet with the 200-yard medley relay. WNE would take the win in that event. The team of Caitlin Guntly, Amanda Robinson, Olivia Emanuele, and Megan Morrissey won that event for the Golden Bears with a time of 2:05.80. Jullia Remiszewski, Caitlin Hall, Alexa Adams, and Gianna Calabrese would get third in the event with a time of 2:15.68. Megan Morrissey would then win the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 13:36.72. Alexa Adams would swim the 200-yard freestyle and get third place at 2:28.69. The 50-yard backstroke event saw two Golden Bears get second and third place. Megan Bradley got second with a time of 40:36, and Hannah Delude earned a time of 50:98. The 50-yard breaststroke saw Caitlin Hall get second and Gianna Calabrese get fourth with times of 39.59 and 43.64, respectively. Olivia Emanuele would then win the 100-yard butterfly race at 1:07.89. The 50-yard freestyle was the next event. The Golden Bears saw Robinson, Bradley, and Delude get fourth, fifth, and sixth in the event. Robinson got a time of 29:27, Bradley got a time of 36.26, and Delude got a time of 40.94. The 100-yard freestyle saw Hall win the event with a time of 1:01.27. The 100-yard backstroke would then see Caitlin Guntly win the race for the Golden Bears. Guntly swam a time of 1:04.15. Julia Remiszewski got fourth place in that event, as well. Remiszewski had a time of 1:10.33. The 100-yard breaststroke was after that. Robinson got second in that race with a time of 1:25.04, and Bradley finished with a time of 1:43.70, getting fourth place. The 500-yard freestyle was next. Emanuele grabbed first place with a time of 6:06.89. Morrissey would then finish second with a time of 6:27.14. Calabrese got fourth place in the race with a time of 7:13.64. The 50-yard butterfly saw Adams get second place with a time of 31.93. Guntly and Remiszewski would then race for the Golden Bears in the 100-yard IM and get first and third place, respectively. Guntly got a time of 1:06.62, and Remiszewski earned a time of 1:13.43. The final race saw the team of Guntly, Adams, Morrissey, and Emanuele get second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:53.48. Remiszewski, Robinson, Calabrese, and Hall would get third at 2:03.02. The Owls would beat the Golden Bears by a score of 116-113.
