Men’s Golf Starts 2023 Schedule at Duke Nelson Invitational

Middlebury, V.T. (September 9 & 10, 2023) - The Men's Golf team traveled north to Middlebury, Vermont, for the annual Duke Nelson Invitational at Ralph Myhre Golf Course. This was the first tournament for newly hired head coach, Jim Abbott.

Place: 24th/24

How it Happened:

The two day Duke Nelson Invitational started on Saturday, September 9. Day one's results saw Ryan Schlehuber lead the team with a score of 78 (+7). Jeremy Burke was the next WNE golfer with a 81 (+10). Dylan Fortunato was a stroke behind Burke with a score of 82 (+11). Mike Bluhm was next for the Golden Bears, scoring a 87 (+16) and Connor Asselin finished with a 93 (+22). After the first round of play, the Golden Bears sat in 24th place and had a total score of 328.

The Golden Bears went back to work on day two. Jeremy Burke dropped from an 81 to an 80 (+9) on day two and finished with a final score of 161. Fortunado shot an 83 (+12) and finished the invitational with a score of 165. Schlehuber had a score of 88 (+17) on Sunday and finished the weekend with a score of 166. Bluhm finished with a 172 after dropping his score by two shots, to an 85. Asselin picked up a score of 85 on day two and had a final score of 178. After day two, the Golden Bears had a score of 661 and finished the invitational in 24th place.

  • The Golden Bears will be back in action Friday, September 29, when they play in the Keene State Invitational at 10:00 AM.
