NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 7, 2026) – WNE's Golf program began their Spring season with a bang on Tuesday, finishing the Alling Invitational tied for second.
Derek Johnson led the field once again with a 73, earning him the first-place trophy at the 2026 Invitational. Johnson would finish one stroke clear of two Springfield College golfers, who both shot scores of 74.

How it Happened:
Derek Johnson: Johnson picked up his first win of the spring season and his fifth victory of the entire 2025-26 year. The sophomore from Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, put together a round that saw him shoot a 35 on the front nine and then add three strokes on the back nine to shoot a 38. Altogether, Johnson ended the day with a round of 73 to take the top spot at the invitational by one stroke.
Alex Noti: Noti started his spring season with a score of 80 and tied for 13th in the invitational. The Odessa, Florida, native started the day with a 42 on the front. However, he would turn his day around on the back nine with a 38 for that round of 80. Noti would finish third for
Jim Abbott's crew in their first round back.
Jeremy Burke: The senior from Hooksett, New Hampshire, put together a round of 85 in his first time back on the links in an invitational. Burke started the round with a front nine of 41 before finishing the round with a 44.
Kyle Klimas: The sophomore shot an impressive round of 78 on Tuesday. Klimas went out on the front nine with a 41 before dropping four strokes on the back nine of the course and shooting a 37. The 78 in the Alling Invitational earned Klimas a top-ten finish, where he was tied for ninth overall.
Kody Yancey: Yancy ended Tuesday's round shooting a 92 overall. Yancy would start the round with a front nine of 47 before turning it around on the back nine with a 45.
