Golden Bears Run Through The Field At The Rich Korzec Memorial Invitational With Johnson and Noti Taking The Top Two Spots

WORCESTER, Mass. (April 13, 2026) – With a second-place and first-place finish to start the spring, the Golden Bears' Men's Golf team traveled to Worcester, Massachusetts, looking for more success. They found it with Derek Johnson winning his seventh consecutive tournament and Alex Noti placing second overall.
Results: 1st/5 (305 Strokes)
How it Happened:

Derek Johnson: Johnson had another successful tournament for the Golden Bears on Monday. He started the round with birdies on two of the first three holes before ending the front nine with a 34 on the way out. Johnson would claim another birdie on the twelfth hole and shoot a back-nine 37 to complete his round with a 71, just +1 on the round. That score earned him the tournament win for the seventh time this season.
Alex Noti: The sophomore started the day three under after four holes played. Noti would birdie the third hole and eagle the par-five fourth. Noti shot an opening nine holes at 34, which was -1. Noti would shoot a 39 on the back nine to end with a final round of 73, which was +3 for the day. That earned Noti the runner-up position (second place) in the invitational.
Kyle Klimas: Klimas would not start the day as he may have expected, but would birdie the par-four third hole on route to an opening nine of 40. Klimas ended the round by shooting 39 on the back nine, and that would see him finish with 79 strokes and +9 for the round. That would earn Klimas fourth place in the invitational.
Kyle DeGroff: DeGroff ended the day by shooting twelve strokes over par, in a tie for fourteenth. DeGroff shot a front nine of 42 strokes and ended the day with a 40 on the back nine. Highlights for DeGroff included the par-five fourth hole, which saw him birdie the hole, and the par-four thirteenth hole, which saw a birdie there, too.
Carter Browning: The first year from Londonderry, N.H., played his first invitational round of the spring season on Monday. He would join DeGroff at +12 on the day and a round of 82. Browning had two sections of the course where he put together four or more consecutive pars. Nobody else on the course at the invitational was able to match that feat from Browning.
Up Next on the Schedule:
WNE will get a little break before their next invitational, which they will host. The Golden Bears will host the Western New England Invitational in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 12:30 PM. The invitational will be held at the Country Club of Wilbraham.
