WILBRAHAM, Mass. (April 21, 2026) – The Golden Bears hosted the Western New England Invitational, which consisted of three Springfield-based schools: WNE, Springfield College, and American International College. WNE's
Carter Browning led the pack, with a round of 71, including four birdies. WNE had one team place second and the other place fourth in the invitational.
A Result: 2nd/6 (+19)
B Result: 4th/6 (+29)
How it Happened (Team A):
Alex Noti: Noti tied for the WNE team A low round on the day. Noti shot a 74 with a front nine 36 and a back nine 38. He had two birdies on the day. He birdied the par-four 7th hole and the par-four 12th to end the day with the 74.
Kyle DeGroff: DeGroff was the other Golden Bear with a 74 on the day. DeGroff shot a one-under 34 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine. He had three birdies in a row on the front side, including the par-four 3rd and 4th holes, and the par-three 5th. DeGroff ended the day in style with a birdie on the par-five 18th hole to cap a solid round.
Derek Johnson: Johnson ended the day with a final round of 77 for the blue and gold. He recorded three birdies on the afternoon. He birdied the par-four 7th and the par-five 8th holes back-to-back. Then, he birdied the par-five 11th hole. He shot a 38 on the way out and a 39 on the way back to end the round.
Kyle Klimas: Klimas had four birdies on the day for the Golden Bears. He had all four birdies on the second nine. Klimas shot a 39 on the front nine and the same on the back nine to record a final round, 78. All four birdies were shot on the back nine. It started on the par-five 11th hole and continued on the par-three 14th, par-four 17th, and par-five 18th holes.
Michael Bluhm: Bluhm shot an 81 on the day for WNE to close out his tenure with the Golden Bears. He recorded a +3 38 on the front nine and would come back on the back nine with a 43. He would par eight holes today, including a stretch of three in a row on holes 3,4, and 5.
How it Happened (Team B):
Carter Browning: Browning had a great day on the course, leading the Golden Bears on both teams, with a final round, 71. Browning shot a -2, 33, on the front nine. That included birdies on the par-four 1st hole, the par-three 5th, and the par-five 8th. He ended the day with a 38 on the back nine and one birdie, which was on the par-five 11th hole.
Jeremy Burke: Burke ended his time in the blue and gold with a final round of 80, shooting 39 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine. Burke collected nine pars on the day, including three in a row on holes 7, 8, and 9.
Robert DeFeo: DeFeo shot a final round, 81 for his final time hitting the links with the Golden Bears. He recorded five consecutive pars to start the back nine and then earned a birdie on the par-four 15th. He started his round with a 44 and ended it with a 37.
Rian Faiq: Faiq ended the day with an 81, as well. Faiq put together an opening nine at +3, for a 38. Then, had a back nine round of 43. Faiq had six pars on the front nine and four on the back to end the day with ten pars altogether.
Kody Yancey: Yancey ended the Western New England Invitational with a 45 front nine and a 42 back nine to complete the round with an 87. He put together a stretch of five pars in a row between holes 8 through 12. That was a part of seven total pars today.
Aidan Devaney (IND): Devaney shot a +9, 80, today at the Western New England Invitational. He shot a 41 on the way out and a 39 on the way back. Devaney totaled ten pars and a birdie during his round. He had six consecutive pars from hole 12 to hole 17 and ended the day with a birdie on the par-five 18th hole.
