How it Happened:
The Golden Bears and Rams faced off in Boston, Massachusetts, on Tuesday night. Molly McLaughlin and Arden Ferrari-Henry were the goalies for the Golden Bears and Rams, respectively. The momentum and pressure favored the Rams in the beginning of Tuesday's matchup. They had the first two shots in the first ten minutes of play. The first went over the net, and the second was a shot from Maci Pekmezian, which was saved by McLaughlin. Liza Pinette would answer with a shot for the Golden Bears. However, Ferrari-Henry made the save. The Rams would then control the ball and have the next five shots. The Golden Bears' defense did a very good job of forcing the Rams to send shots wide or high of the net. McLaughlin was not forced to make a save over the next fifteen minutes of play. The ball would travel from one side of the field to the other. Neither team found much success for the first half hour of the game. The Golden Bears saw a corner kick get turned away from goal in the 30th minute. That started to get the momentum building for the Golden Bears. They had two shots in the 33rd minute. The first was blocked, but the second saw Ferrari-Henry have to make a save on the shot from Isabella Montalvo. The ball was traded from team to team for the next several minutes. However, in the 45th minute, the Golden Bears had a corner kick opportunity lead to a shot, but it went wide of the net, and the first half ended scoreless. The first-half stats saw the Rams leading 7-4 in shots and 2-1 in saves. The Golden Bears had more shots on goal 2-1 and corner kicks 2-1. Both teams had six fouls in the first half. The score was tied 0-0 at half as well.
The second half started similarly to the first, with Suffolk earning the first shot. Angelina Giovanni had a shot in the 51st minute saved by McLaughlin. The 59th minute saw more pressure from the Rams as they earned a corner kick opportunity. However, the WNE defense did a good job stifling that scoring chance. The Golden Bears tried to gain momentum back by answering with a shot in the 62nd minute. However, it was wide of the goal. The Golden Bears had another chance to follow that in the 65th minute. Stephanie McKenna tested Ferrari-Henry in goal. However, the shot was saved. That led to a 66th-minute shot from the Rams going wide of the net. The teams traded possession of the ball for just over seven minutes before the Rams had the next major opportunity. Isa Peraza had a chance and took a shot. McLaughlin would be there to make the save, though. The Rams did have momentum and would earn a corner kick in the 75th minute. That led to a shot blocked by the WNE defense. Lindsay Reidy answered for the Golden Bears with a shot, which had to be and was saved by Ferrari-Henry. Brynn Murphy added to the WNE pressure with a shot on goal that Ferrari-Henry saved in the 86th minute. That was the final shot from the Golden Bears. The Rams had the final two shots of the game. Avery Porter had a header shot saved by McLaughlin. Then, the final shot of the game went wide of the net, and shortly after that, the final whistle sounded, and the teams finished in a 0-0 draw.
