SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 8, 2024) – The Western New England men's basketball team is one month away from taking the court for opening day, as announced by Head Coach
Colin Tabb in today's schedule release.
The WNE Golden Bears will be back in action on November 8 for their season opener, which will come on the road against cross-town rival Springfield College at 7:30 PM. The Golden Bears will stay on the road to open the season with a mini-two-game road trip, heading to Brandeis University on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:00 PM. The first home game of the season for Western New England will come on Saturday, November 16 at 3:00 PM when the Golden Bears men's basketball team welcomes Keene State College, champions of the Little East Conference a season ago, to the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center. Prior to hosting their annual Hampton Inn Holiday Classic, Western New England will be on the road at Worcester State University, looking to pick up some revenge on the Lancers on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00 PM.
WNE will host the Hampton Inn Holiday Classic for the fifth season overall. The Golden Bears will open the tournament on Friday, November 22 at 6:00 PM, taking on Penn State Altoona as part of the first of two games that evening. The Golden Bears will also host Ramapo College and Colby College for game two of the tournament. The tip-off classic will end on Saturday, November 23 for a consolation game (12:00 PM) and a championship game (2:00 PM). The final non-conference game of the season for the Golden Bears will take place on Tuesday, November 26 at 6:00 PM, as Western New England takes on Trinity College (Conn.).
Conference of New England play will fill the remainder of the schedule for Western New England on the season, opening with two home games. Nichols College visits the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center on Monday, December 2 at 7:30 PM in a highly anticipated contest, while the University of Hartford will look to defeat the Golden Bears for the first time since entering the conference, playing a CNE game on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:30 PM. The final game of the 2024 schedule will come on the road as the Golden Bears take on Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 PM.
The new year will begin on the road for the Golden Bears men's basketball team, traveling to the University of New England on Saturday, January 4 at 3:00 PM. Western New England will host Roger Williams University on Tuesday, January 7 at 7:30 PM. The January schedule continues for Western New England at Endicott College (January 11), home against Gordon College (January 15) and Curry College (January 18), and a road match with Suffolk University, who eliminated the Golden Bears in the CCC tournament a season ago (January 22). Western New England will then host Wentworth Institute of Technology (January 25) while traveling to the University of Hartford (January 28).
Seven games on the schedule will remain for Western New England in the month of February to close out the regular season. The month of February will open with a home game with the University of New England on Saturday, February 1. Two straight on the road for the Golden Bears will see Western New England take on Roger Williams University (February 5) and Nichols College (February 8). Two road games and two home games remain for WNE, welcoming Suffolk University to Springfield on February 11 while hitting the road for Western New England's final road trip of the season, making stops at Curry College (February 15) and Gordon College (February 19). The final home game of the year for Western New England will come on home court on Saturday, February 22 at 3:00 PM against Endicott College.
