Plymouth, N.H. (November 15, 2024) – The women's swim team traveled to Plymouth, New Hampshire, for a tri-meet with Plymouth State University and Eastern Connecticut State University. The Golden Bears would drop both meets, with the Warriors winning 166-39 versus WNE and the Panthers winning 106-87 versus WNE.

How it Happened:
The meet saw eleven events swam. The first event was the 400-yard Medley Relay. The relay team of Julia Reniszewski, Gianna Calabrese, Giada Caruso, and Amanda Pillard would finish in third place against the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State University but would get the win versus the Panthers' relay team. In the 200-yard IM, Julia Reniszewski and Giada Caruso would get back in the pool and swim. They would get fourth and fifth against the Warriors and second and third against the Panthers. They had times of 2:45.87 and 3:03.46, respectively, in the race. The 200-yard Freestyle race followed, with Sofia Piantedosi and Christina Schmidt racing for the Golden Bears. Piantedosi finished fourth against the Warriors and second versus the Panthers, with a time of 2:46.38. Schmidt finished in fourth place against the Panthers with a time of 2:55.27. The 50-yard Freestyle saw Caitlin Guntly claim first place against both teams, with a time of 27.15. Alexa Adams finished with a time of 31.20, which would earn Adams third place against the Panthers. Amanda Pillard had a time of 31.79, and Christina Schmidt had a time of 35.83. Pillard got fourth against the Panthers, and Schmidt got fifth. The 100-yard IM would follow the 50-yard Freestyle. Vicky Stepien and Gianna Calabrese competed for the Golden Bears. Stepien earned fourth place against the Warriors and second place against the Panthers, with a time of 1:17.29. Calabrese earned fifth place versus the Warriors and fourth place versus the Panthers, with a time of 1:25.19. The Golden Bears led 45-42 versus the Panthers after that race and were trailing the Warriors 74-19.
The 50-yard Butterfly race was next. Olivia Emanuele, Alexa Adams, and Giada Caruso competed in that race for WNE. Emanuele finished in second place versus both teams, with a time of 29.93. Adams placed fourth against the Warriors and third versus the Panthers, with a time of 33.18. Caruso would finish with a time of 38.38. The 100-yard Freestyle race was next. Amanda Pillard got second versus the Panthers and fourth against the Warriors with a time of 1:11.78. Christina Schmidt placed fourth against the Panthers with a time of 1:19.01. Sofia Piantedosi placed fifth against the Panthers, with a time of 1:24.47. Julia Reniszewski raced in the next event, the 200-yard Backstroke. Reniszewski placed second against the Panthers and third against the Warriors, with a time of 2:34.87. The 500-yard Freestyle saw Olivia Emanuele and Sofia Piantedosi race for the Golden Bears. Emanuele placed fourth against the Warriors and second versus the Panthers, with a time of 6:30.69. Piantedosi earned fourth place against the Panthers with a time of 7:46.24. Caitlin Guntly, Vicky Stepien, and Gianna Calabrese competed next for WNE. They raced the 200-yard Breaststroke. Guntly finished in second place against the Warriors and first place versus the Panthers, with a time of 2:57.32. Stepien placed third against the Panthers and fifth versus the Warriors, with a time of 3:17.64. Calabrese placed fourth versus the Panthers, with a time of 3:18.91. The final event was the 400-yard Freestyle Relay. The WNE relay team of Alexa Adams, Vicky Stepien, Olivia Emanuele, and Caitlin Guntly would finish third versus the Warriors and second versus the Panthers. The Golden Bears lost to the Warriors 166-39 and lost to the Panthers 106-87.
Coach's Corner:
Coach Martin Gullberg was asked for a comment after the meet. "Senior Caitlin Guntly led the way with great swims in all three of her events to lead the team. She won two individuals and a relay in the meet against Plymouth. Olivia Emanuele was another strong contributor with good swims in the 50 fly and 500 free. Julia Remiszewski helped by swimming some tough races and finishing first on the team in her individual events. Many others made contributions, including Alexa Adams, who finished in the top in her events against Plymouth State," Gullberg stated.
