SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 3, 2026) – Five members of the Western New England women's swimming team have earned honors on the Little East Conference (LEC) Winter All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office this week.
The Little East Conference announced a total of 586 student-athletes competing in the LEC's eight winter championship sports – men's and women's basketball, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's indoor track & field, men's and women's swimming & diving - have been named to the 2025-26 LEC Winter All-Academic Team.
To be named to the LEC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.
Western New England's
Gianna Calabrese (Watertown, Conn.),
Bella Giard (East Longmeadow, Mass.),
Caitlin Guntly (Chicopee, Mass.),
Sarah Morrissey (Wethersfield, Conn.), and
Ella Smith (Chicopee, Mass.) take honors for the Golden Bears. Calabrese is named to the team for the second time in her career, while Guntly has earned honors for the third time overall.
The WNE women's swimming team finished the season with a 7-4 record overall in dual meets, winning five meets in a row to conclude the season, while coming in seventh place overall in the Little East Conference Championships.
