WNE Men’s Golf Competes in First Invitational of the Spring Season

Windsor, Conn. (April 6-7, 2024) – Men's Golf took part in their first invitational of the Spring season on Saturday and Sunday. Day one saw Ryan Schlehuber shoot a +4 74, with two birdies and was tied for fifteenth place after the day finished up. Day two saw Dylan Fortunato lead the Golden Bears with a +10 80, picking up one birdie. Ryan Schlehuber had the best two-day score for the Golden Bears with a +19 159 for the weekend.

Place: 15th/15

Day 1:

Day one saw the Golden Bears capture five birdies and saw two golfers record a score of under 80. Ryan Schlehuber led the team with a team-best +4 74 score. Schlehuber birdied one hole on the front nine to shoot +3 on the front and birdied one hole on the back nine to shoot +1 on the back. Jeremy Burke shot a +8 78 on day one. Burke picked up two birdies on the front nine and shot +5 on the front. Then picked up one birdie on the back to shoot +3 on the back. Robert DeFeo was next for the Golden Bears. DeFeo shot a +12 82. Defeo went out shooting a +6 on the front and came back with a +6 on the back nine. Dylan Fortunato was the next Golden Bear, with a final score of 89, which was +19 on the day. Fortunato went out shooting a +8 and came back shooting a +11. Mike Bluhm shot a +23 93 on the day. Bluhm went out with a +10 and came back with a +13 on the back nine. After day one, the Golden Bears had an overall score of 323, which was +43.

Day 2: 

The Golden Bears sunk two birdies on day two, with one golfer at the 80 mark. Dylan Fortunato led the Golden Bears on day two by improving by nine strokes from day one. Fortunato led with a team-best +10 80 for the day. Fortunato birdied one hole on the front nine and shot a +3. Then, Fortunato would shoot a +7 on the back nine. Jeremy Burke shot a +13 83 on day two. Burke picked up a birdie on the front nine and shot a +1 on the front. Then, shot a +12 on the back nine to finish at +13. Robert DeFeo shot a +14 84 on day two. DeFeo went out with a +7 on the front nine and finished with a +7 on the back nine to shoot +14. Ryan Schlehuber would shoot a +15 85 on day two. Schlehuber was +6 on the front nine and +9 on the back nine. Mike Bluhm improved to a +18 88 on day two. Bluhm shot a +10 on the front nine and a +8 on the back nine to finish with that +18 88. The Golden Bears finished with a final score of +52 332 on day two and an overall score of +95 655 for the invitational.
