SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 15, 2025) – The Western New England men's wrestling team has released its 2025-2026 winter schedule, which is set to begin on Saturday, November 8. The schedule consists of three home dates this season, two dual matches and one tri-match.
The Golden Bears open their season on the road at the Racich Rumble on Saturday, November 8 in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, hosted by Ursinus College. WNE then returns to Springfield and will compete in their first dual match of the season, taking on Springfield College at Blake Arena on Friday, November 14 at 7:00 PM. The Golden Bears open their home schedule the next morning, hosting Bridgewater State University in the second-annual Bear Cup, taking place this season on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00 AM at the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center. The Golden Bears cap off November with a road tournament back at Springfield College for the Doug Parker Invitational on Saturday, November 22, beginning at 10:00 AM.
WNE returns from a short Thanksgiving break with a road dual match at Rhode Island College on Friday, December 5 at 6:00 PM. The team returns to the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center the next afternoon for a tri-match with Roger Williams University and Hunter College, beginning at 12:00 PM. The final two events on the schedule for the opening half of the year see WNE men's wrestling head to Roger Williams University for the Scott Viera Open on Saturday, December 13 at 9:00 AM and then traveling back to Rhode Island for a tri-match with Johnson & Wales University and Muhlenberg College on Wednesday, December 17 beginning at 12:00 PM for the East Coast Duals.
The blue and gold return to the mat for the new year on Saturday, January 10 at 12:00 PM for a tri-match, hosted by Norwich University with Kean University. The Golden Bears travel back to Collegeville, Pennsylvania for the Will Abele Invitational on Saturday, January 17 at 10:00 AM. From there, the Golden Bears will participate in the NEWA Duals, hosted by Johnson & Wales University, one of the biggest events of the season, which takes place on Sunday, January 25, beginning at 9:30 AM. WNE returns to dual action to close out the month of January, taking on U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, January 31 at 11:00 AM on the road.
Four dual matches remain for the 2026 portion of WNE men's wrestling's schedule, which includes their next three matches at the University of Southern Maine where the Golden Bears will compete in the USM Quads with Trinity College and Plymouth State University on Saturday, February 7 beginning at 12:00 PM. The blue and gold will then host their final dual match of the season, welcoming WPI to Springfield on Friday, February 13 at 6:00 PM. One final tournament remains on the schedule before the postseason begins as the annual NEWA Futures Tournament takes place on Sunday, February 15, hosted by VTSU Castleton, beginning at 11:00 AM.
The postseason opens at the NCAA Region I Championships on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28 at a location to be determined. For those Golden Bears who qualify, the NCAA Championships will then take place on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 at Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. WNE's
Cameron Hines became the Region I champion last season at 174 lbs. and punched his ticket into the NCAA Championships.
