Endicott Uses Big Third Quarter To Down WNE Football, 45-24

BEVERLY, Mass. (October 18, 2025) – The Western New England football team headed into enemy territory on Saturday night, looking to pull off their second Conference of New England victory of the season, but were stymied by the Gulls of Endicott College, as EC scored 21 points in the third quarter to take down the Golden Bears by a final score of 45-24.

Records:
  • Western New England: 3-3, 1-2 CNE
  • Endicott College: 5-1, 3-0 CNE
How it Happened:

First Quarter:
  • The Gulls opened the game with their first offensive drive and came away with three points after Brandon Alfaro Mateo knocked through a 25-yard field goal, giving Endicott a quick 3-0 lead. Western New England responded with three points of their own on their first offensive drive as a nine-play, 61-yard drive ended with a Max LoGrasso field goal from 21 yards out, evening the score at three. De'Andre Harris was Paul Gorry's top target on the drive, grabbing three catches for 43 yards.
  • Endicott had seven points on their next offensive drive as Bryan Ferreira rushed for a 27-yard touchdown, giving the Gulls a 10-3 lead. The Golden Bears had an answer again, using a ten-play, 75-yard drive in 5:23 to put seven points of their own on the scoreboard as Gorry capped off the series with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Acosta, tying the score at ten, the score at which the game would remain at heading into the second quarter.
  • The opening frame saw WNE run 18 plays for 117 yards, 54 rushing yards and 63 passing. The Gulls rushed and received an even 62 yards each in the opening quarter.
Second Quarter:
  • Just one score came in the second quarter as the Gulls had the points in the first 30 seconds of the quarter as the WNE defense let up another big Endicott run, this time, a 54-yard touchdown run from Markys Bridgewater, giving the Gulls a 17-10 lead. The ensuing WNE drive saw the blue and gold fail to convert on a fourth-and 15 from the EC 34-yard line, turning the ball over to the Gulls. The WNE defense then played for the remainder of the quarter as Endicott ran a 17-play, 56 yard drive that took well over half the quarter, totaling nine minutes and 24 seconds to complete, but resulted in no points after the Golden Bears stopped a field goal attempt from Alfaro Mateo from 27 yards out, keeping the score at 17-10 in favor of the Gulls heading into halftime.
  • Western New had possession for all of 4:57 of the second quarter, but were not able to score in the frame, totaling just 35 yards of offense. Endicott put up 141 yards in the quarter, picking up just seven points.
Third Quarter:
  • Western New England had their chance to score to open the third quarter but were forced to punt for the first time in the game as the Gulls got the WNE offense off the field quickly in just a five-play drive. The Gulls needed just five plays and 35 yards to score their next touchdown of the game, following a 35-yard punt return from Kennedy Charles. The big return Charles set up a four-yard touchdown from EC's Shea Lynch to Mike Greene, giving Endicott a 24-10 lead.
  • The Golden Bears fought back for their first score of the second half and first since their first drive of the game as an eight-play, 65 yard drive was capped off with a Jova'n Hill touchdown from seven yards out, bringing WNE back within a touchdown, 24-17. The drive was highlighted by a 46-yard pass and catch from Gorry to Harris. The ensuing kickoff brought points to the Gulls' score as Endicott's Bryan Ferreira brought back a 75-yard touchdown to give the Gulls their 14-point lead back in just 14 seconds.
  • The next offensive drive ended in a punt for Western New England as Rhys Surpreant got away a 48-yard boot while EC muffed the punt but recovered at their own 14-yard line, needing 86 yards to score again. The Gulls wasted little time to get those 86 yards as another massive run from Ferreira, this time an 84-yarder, gave the Gulls another touchdown, giving the Gulls a 38-17 lead, which they carried into the fourth quarter.
  • The Gulls totaled 121 yards in the third quarter on offense and returned the 75 yard kickoff return to pick up 21 points in the frame to go up big on the Golden Bears.
Fourth Quarter:
  • Ben Caulfield intercepted a pass from Shea Lynch to begin Endicott's first offensive drive of the fourth quarter to bring the WNE offense back onto the field, but the Golden Bears were not able to take advantage of the big defensive play. The blue and gold went for a fourth-and-14 and failed to convert on the EC 32 yard line, putting the Gulls in prime scoring position again, which they did on the first play of the drive, as Joe Carrara found Mike Greene for a 32 yard TD, his second of the night, giving Endicott the commanding 45-17 lead.
  • The Golden Bears picked up one final score in the game with five minutes remaining as De'Andre Harris caught a 37-yard score, totaling 155 yards of offense for the night out of the 203 passing yards. The score from Harris would be too late to mount a comeback as the Golden Bears fell by a final score of 45-24, dropping their fifth straight to Endicott all-time.

  • De'Andre Harris caught half of Paul Gorry's completions on Saturday night with eight receptions for 155 yards, scoring a touchdown in the loss. Gorry was 16/34 through the air, totaling 203 yards and tossed three touchdowns.
