SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 22, 2025) – The Western New England women's basketball team is coming off its most successful season in program history and will look to continue that success during its 2025-2026 season, unveiling its 25-game schedule.
Women's basketball begins its campaign with six straight home games to open the season. The season will open on Friday, November 7, at 5:30 PM at the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center (CAHLC) when cross-town rival Springfield College visits WNE. This will be the 11
th straight meeting between the two teams to open the season. Western New England opened last season with a 70–63 win over then-No. 25 Springfield College. The 2025-26 home schedule continues with a rare Monday night game as WNE hosts Rhode Island College on November 10 at 7:00 PM. From there, another Friday night game from the CAHLC will take place as Eastern Connecticut State University will meet the Golden Bears for the ninth straight season. Conference of New England (CNE) play opens following the game with the Warriors for the Golden Bears as they host Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday, November 19 at 5:30 PM. Women's basketball's annual Hampton Inn Holiday Classic will then take place over a two-day span as WNE hosts Salve Regina University, St. Lawrence University, and Connecticut College over the two-day tournament. WNE and Salve Regina play on Friday, November 21, at 6:00 PM, while St. Lawrence and Connecticut College will play the same night at 8:00 PM, where the two winners will play in the championship game the next afternoon at 2:00 PM, while the two losers from day one play at 12:00 PM in the consolation game. Western New England's first true road game of the season will come right before the quick Thanksgiving break as they ship up to Boston and take on Emerson College on Tuesday, November 25, at 5:30 PM.
The month of December features three contests for Western New England, a home game against CNE opponent University of Hartford, and two non-conference road games at Elms College (December 4) and Westfield State University (December 6).
The Golden Bears return from winter break to a full slate of CNE contests. WNE begins play in January with a set of road contests, traveling to both Gordon College (January 3) and Endicott College (January 6). The Golden Bears then return home for their first CNE home game of the new year, welcoming the University of New England to Springfield on Saturday, January 10 for a 1:00 PM tip. Nichols College (January 14) and Wentworth Institute of Technology (January 17) will be next on the schedule for women's basketball as they look to extend their big win streaks against both teams that week. The Golden Bears' final non-conference game will be at Amherst College on Monday, January 19, at 5:00 PM, the first meeting between the programs since 2012. From there, the remainder of the regular season will feature all conference games. WNE ends the month of January with a pair of road games, at Roger Williams (January 24) and the University of Hartford (January 28), before hosting Suffolk University (January 31).
Western New England will play six games before the start of the CNE Tournament. The month begins with a trip to Milton, Massachusetts, for a game against Curry College on February 3. A pair of home games for WNE will include both Gordon College (February 7) and Roger Williams University (February 11) visiting the Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center. Two of the final three games for Western New England will be on the road, making stops to both Wentworth Institute of Technology (February 14) and Johnson & Wales University (February 21) for a pair of weekend matchups. The final home game of the regular season is a midweek game against Nichols College on February 17 at 5:30 PM.
The Conference of New England tournament will begin with first-round games set for Tuesday, February 24, the semifinal rounds on Thursday, February 26, and the championship game on Saturday, February 28. The top six teams in the conference standings participate in the CNE tournament.
