Women’s Swimming To Open 2025-2026 Season October 19

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 8, 2025) – The Western New England women's swimming team has unveiled its meet schedule for the upcoming 2025-2026 season under first-year head coach Martin Gullberg. Gullberg's Golden Bears will compete in their first meet of the season next Sunday, October 19, inside the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center Pool. 

This season's schedule opens with a home meet against the Blazers of Elms College, who Western New England met last season and came away with a 133-82 victory. The two squads have faced one another each of the last three seasons. That meet on Sunday, October 19 will be an Alumni Appreciation meet where Western New England women's swimming is excited to invite back all alumna of the program's past. The next meet of the season will also be on home soil for the Golden Bears as they welcome UMass-Dartmouth to Springfield on Friday, October 24 at 6:00 PM. The special home meet will be a Breast Cancer Awareness Meet, held annually by the Golden Bears women's swimming team. 

The month of November opens with a road tri-match for the Golden Bears, traveling to Gordon College to meet the Fighting Scots and Westfield State University at The Bennett Center on Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 PM. The road schedule continues for the Golden Bears with a relays race at Eastern Connecticut State University on Friday, November 14. The blue and gold then hits the road for a quad match on Saturday, November 22 at 1:00 PM at the Kneller Athletic Center Pool at Clark University where the Golden Bears will swim against Clark, Rhode Island College, and Husson University. The final meet of the 2025 calendar year will take place at Bridgewater State University for the annual BSU Invitational on Saturday, December 6 beginning at 11:00 AM. 

The Golden Bear will have three meets in the month of January as the team will prepare for the upcoming Little East Conference Championships in February. The January schedule opens on Friday, January 9 at 6:00 PM where Western New England women's swimming welcomes Rhode Island College to the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center. The final road dual match of the season will be up next for WNE, heading to Albertus Magnus College on Saturday, January 17 at 1:00 PM to meet the Falcons. One final home meet of the season sees Westfield State make the quick trip to Springfield on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 PM. 

Western New England will then compete in the three-day Little East Conference Championships from Friday, February 13 – Sunday, February 15. WNE women's swimming placed seventh out of 12 teams last season at the conference championships.
