WENHAM, Mass. (November 8, 2025) – WNE traveled to Gordon College for a double dual meet with the Fighting Scots and the Westfield State University Owls. The Golden Bears swam some of their best times all season and showed improvements in multiple areas, but could not get past the Owls and Fighting Scots on Saturday in Wenham.

How it Happened:
200 Yard Medley Relay:
- The Golden Bears would win this relay versus both teams with a time of 1:58.99. That broke their previous best time of 1:59.34. Isabella Giard led off, followed by Ella Smith, Caitlin Guntly, and Alex Watroba in order.
1000 Yard Freestyle:
- Giada Caruso improved her 1000-yard Freestyle time when she placed third in the race versus Gordon and first in the race versus Westfield State. Caruso had a time of 13:24.76, a new career-best time.
200-yard Freestyle:
- Ella Smith won the 200-yard Freestyle race with a time of 1:59.82. Smith defeated both teams in that race.
- Alex Watroba finished in third in the race versus Gordon College and second in the race versus Westfield State. Watroba swam a 2:08.97.
50 Yard Backstroke:
- Isabella Giard placed third in the 50 Backstroke and second versus both opposing teams. Giard finished with a time of 31.71, very close to a season-best time.
50 Yard Breaststroke:
- Vicky Stepien would swim the 50-yard Breaststroke for the Golden Bears and place fourth overall, second versus Gordon, and third versus Westfield State. Stepien picked up a time of 37.81, a time close to a season best.
100 Yard Butterfly:
- Caitlin Guntly placed second overall in the 100 fly. Guntly's time of 1:08.46 placed her second versus Gordon and first versus Westfield State.
50 Yard Freestyle:
- Olivia Young placed second in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 27.73. Young was very close to a season-best time. Young placed second Versus Gordon and first versus Westfield State.
100 Yard Freestyle:
- Ella Smith won the 100-yard Freestyle with a season-best time of 55.69. Smith placed first against both teams.
100 Yard Backstroke:
- The 100-yard Backstroke saw Caitlin Guntly finish with a season-best time of 1:05.29. Guntly placed second overall, second versus Westfield State, and first versus Gordon College.
100 Yard Breaststroke:
- Vicky Stepien placed fourth overall in the 100 Breaststroke. Stepien finished with a season-best time of 1:24.08, breaking her previous best time by ten seconds. Stepien placed third versus Westfield State and second versus Gordon.
500 Yard Freestyle:
- Alex Watroba placed second overall in the 500 free. Watroba swam a time of 5:55.73 to secure the second-place finish versus Gordon and the first-place finish versus Westfield State.
50 Yard Butterfly:
- Olivia Emanuele placed second in the 50 fly, finishing with a final time of 30.58. That placed Emanuele second versus Gordon College and first versus Westfield State.
200 Yard IM:
- Ella Smith won the 200-yard IM for the Golden Bears with a final time of 2:13.68. Smith defeated both teams in that race with that time.
200 Yard Freestyle Relay:

Martin Gullberg was asked for a comment on today's meet. "We had some great performances today, including some from new members of the team. It was fun to watch our athletes put together the things we've been focusing on during our training over the last two weeks. You can tell people are buying in and working hard," Gullberg mentioned.
