YORK, PA. (December 6, 2025) – The Golden Bears finished the New Standard Invitational with a first-place team finish for the second year in a row and 12 wrestlers inside the top six of their respective weight classes. Within those 12, the top 6 finishers, 2/3 of them placed in the top 3 of their weight class, and four of the twelve won their weight classes, with Atiyana Williams, Linda Holeman, Maddie Ripley, and Sky De Leon being the four invitational Champions.
How it Happened:
- Victoria Orender had one of the twelve top 6 finishes today. Orender started the day by advancing to the quarterfinals via a bye. Orender then picked up a 13-2 VSU1 victory in the quarterfinals before dropping the semifinal match via a 16-8 VFA defeat. Orender then won her next match via VFA at 1:16 and the third-place match via VFA at 1:23 to secure a third-place finish in the 110 lb. weight class at the invitational.
- The 117 lb. weight class saw WNE's first-year phenom, Maddie Ripley, secure a spot in the invitational championship. Ripley got a bye to the round of 16 and then won that match via VFA at 0:18. In the quarterfinals, Ripley win via VFA at 0:11. The semifinals took Ripley a little longer to advance, winning via VFA at 0:59. Then, in the championship, Ripley faced a top wrestler in the nation and won via VFA at 0:46 to earn the 117 lb. weight class championship.
- Linda Holeman was another Golden Bear who reached the championship in her weight class. In the 124 lb. weight class, Holeman won her round of 16 match via VFA at 1:22. Holeman would win via VFA at 0:36 in the quarterfinals as well. In the semifinal, Holeman won via a 10-0 VSU decision at 2:08. Finally, Holeman won the 124 lb. weight class championship via an 8-4 VPO1 decision.
- The 131 lb. weight class saw two Golden Bears place in the top six. Jazmene Molina placed third, and Jaden Coppins placed fifth. Molina got a bye to the round of 16, where she won her match 10-0 via VSU at 1:05 and did the same in the quarterfinals, but at 0:15. Unfortunately, Molina lost via a VPO1 decision, 13-7, in the semifinals. However, Molina would win via VSU at 5:21, 12-0, to send her to the third-place match, where she won 3-0 via VPO to secure third place.
- Jaden Coppins placed fifth in the 131 lb. weight class by making a real comeback. Coppins dropped her first match of the day to the number-three seed in the weight class. Coppins then won four matches in a row. Winning the matches via VFA at 0:51, VFA at 1:41, VFA at 1:17, and VSU at 2:47, 10-0. Coppins dropped her next match via VSU at 5:21, 12-0, before winning via VFA at 5:28 in the fifth-place match.
- Tanya Teneva placed in the top three of the 138 lb. weight class at the invitational. Teneva got a bye to the round of 16, where she won via a 10-0 VSU win at 1:44. Then, Teneva won via VFA at 0:52 before dropping her next match to the number-three-ranked wrestler in the weight class via a VPO1 decision, 14-9. Teneva was not shaken by that and won her next two matches via VFA at 1:44 and VPO1, 10-2 in the third-place match to secure the bronze medal.
- Sanyah Queen placed third for WNE in the 145 lb. weight class. Queen started the day with two wins. Both were wins via VFA, with the first at 5:35 and the second at 5:14. Queen dropped the semifinal match via VSU at 0:29, 10-0. However, Queen won the next match via VPO1 8-5 and then, in the third-place match, won via VSA, 10-0, at 4:08.
- Rylee Donohue claimed fifth place in the 145 lb. weight class. Donohue won her first match via VFA at 0:58 before falling in the quarterfinals via VFA at 2:04. Donohue won her next three matches via VFA at 1:08 and 1:44, respectively. Donohue would drop the match before the third-place match via an 8-5 VPO1 decision but would get the win in the fifth-place match via VIN.
- Sky De Leon was the third Golden Bear to win her respective weight class, by taking down the 160 lb. weight class. De Leon went 4-0 today with wins via VFA at 0:01 and VPO1, 8-1, in the opening two rounds. De Leon then won via VSU1 at 5:51 in the semifinals against the number-one seed in the weight class. De Leon finished the day by taking down the number-two-seeded wrestler in the weight class via VFA at 4:44 to win the weight class and claim the gold medal.
- Atiyana Williams went 4-0 on the day as well, meaning Williams won the 180 lb. weight class. Williams won her first two matches via VFA at 1:59 and 0:29, respectively. Williams would win the semifinal match via VFA at 2:19 and then took home the trophy for the 180 lb. weight class with a 6-2 VPO1 victory.
- Mikayla Maloy placed sixth in the 180 lb. weight class. Maloy also won her first two matches via VFA at 1:41 versus the second-ranked wrestler in the weight class in the first round and via VFA at 2:34 in the quarterfinals. Maloy dropped the semifinals match via VFA at 2:37 and then fell in her next match via VFA at 1:27. Maloy would unfortunately fall in the fifth-place match via VFA at 5:32 to end the day in sixth place.
- Emily Dudar placed fourth in the 207 lb. weight class. Dudar dropped her first match to the fifth-ranked wrestler in the weight class via VFA at 1:53, but came back with three wins, including wins over the sixth-ranked wrestler in the weight class via VFA at 1:24, a VFA victory in the next round at 2:25, and a VFO victory versus the number-one-ranked wrestler in the weight class. Dudar fell in the third-place match via VFA at 1:19 and placed fourth overall.
