WESTFIELD, Mass. (February 1, 2025) – The Golden Bears traveled to Westfield State University for a tri-meet versus the Owls and the University of New England Nor'Easters. The Golden Bears would fall in both meets, but they would still find success through six individual personal best times and two team records being broken by Ella Smith.

How it Happened:
The meet started with the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The WNE team of Caitlin Guntly, Ella Smith, Olivia Emanuele, and Julia Remiszewski would claim second place with a time of 2:01.34. The team would not swim anyone in the 1000-yard Freestyle. However, they had two swimmers swim the 200-yard Freestyle in the ensuing event. Olivia Emanuele swam a 2:20.90, earning third in the event. Gianna Calabrese followed with a time of 2:43.22. Event 4 was the 200-yard Backstroke, and it saw Amanda Robinson swim a 2:36.97 and place third. Then, Giada Caruso would swim a season-best time of 2:50.57. The 50-yard Breaststroke was next. Ella Smith would break a third team record by winning the race with a time of 31.65 in the race. That broke the record by 1.22 seconds. Then, Sofia Piantedosi would earn a time of 44.65 in the race. Caitlin Guntly would then win the 100-yard Butterfly with a season-best time of 1:03.97. The 50-yard Freestyle was the final event before the first break. Olivia Emanuele would place fifth in the event with a season-best time of 28.93, and Julia Remiszewski would follow with a season-best time of 29.56. The 100-yard Freestyle was after the break. Julia Remiszewski swam a time of 1:02.88 and placed third in the event. Amanda Robinson would swim a 1:08.75 and was the next WNE swimmer to finish.
The 100-yard Backstroke was next, and saw Amanda Pillard compete in the event and earn a time of 1:29.36. After the Backstroke, the 100-yard Breaststroke would see a third-place finish with a time of 1:19.72. Sofia Piantedosi then followed Guntly with a season-best time of 1:33.82. Giada Caruso then competed in the 500-yard Freestyle for the Golden Bears. Caruso would finish with a time of 6:53.65. The 50-yard Butterfly saw Gianna Calabrese and Amanda Pillard compete in the event and earn times of 38.71 and 40.40, respectively. Pillard would earn a season-best time in the event. Then, Ella Smith, once again, broke a team record. The 200-yard IM saw Smith earn a time of 2:13.80 and break the team record in that event by 6.20 seconds. The meet concluded with the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. The WNE relay team of Olivia Emanuele, Caitlin Guntly, Amanda Robinson, and Ella Smith would place third in the event with a time of 1:53.08. The meet ended with WNE falling to UNE 194-58 and WSU 129-82.
