SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 23, 2025) – Western New England senior attack
Mia Celentano has picked up Conference of New England honors, being named as the Offensive Player of the Week after putting up 17 points in two games for the Golden Bears last week.
Celentano came around with six goals and two assists in WNE's 22-9 win over Curry College last Tuesday, producing a season-high eight points in the win. Celentano also celebrated her 200
th career point in blue and gold. Celentano would end up taking nine shots, putting seven on goal while coming up with one ground ball and winning five draw controls overall. The WNE senior would continue to dominate on the offensive end for the Golden Bears, adding a career-high nine points to her total in the weekend game against the University of Hartford. There, Celentano found the back of the net eight times overall while picking up an assist, good for nine total points in the game. Celentano factored in on the scoresheet on nine of WNE's 12 goals against the Hawks overall while taking 12 shots, putting ten on goal, and adding two ground balls and winning a season-high 11 draw controls.
On the season, the Hamden, Connecticut native has picked up 51 goals and 19 assists, good for 70 points overall. Celentano has scored the eventual game-winning goal three times this season while scooping 27 ground balls, causing 18 turnovers, and winning 81 draw controls. Celentano and eight total seniors will be honored tonight as part of Senior Day for Western New England women's lacrosse as the Golden Bears host Nichols College in their final game of the regular season from Golden Bear Stadium at 7:00 PM.
