SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 25, 2025) – Eight members of the Western New England men's and women's tennis teams have been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on the ITA Division III Scholar Athlete list. Additionally, the WNE women's tennis team added honors, being named to the All-Academic Team.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has honored 1,115 male student-athletes and 1,269 female student-athletes across NCAA Division III this season, eight of whom come from Western New England University. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must abide by the following:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year.
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
From WNE men's tennis,
Brandon Allen (West Brookfield, Mass.),
Nick Bayer (Bedford, N.H.), and
Brandon Greger (Bristol, Conn.) were named Scholar Athletes. From WNE women's tennis,
Gianna Arace (Pittsfield, Mass.),
Malina Dinis (Ludlow, Mass.),
Yasmine Giacalone (Peabody, Mass.),
Kayla Ledoux (Windsor Locks, Conn.), and
Sydney Shepard (Windsor Locks, Conn.) have been honored with ITA Scholar Athlete status. Bayer and Shepard earn honors for the second time in their careers.
In addition to the Scholar Athlete awards, the Western New England women's tennis team was honored with the ITA All-Academic Team, which is handed to programs that have a grade point average of 3.2 or above. All student-athletes on the team who were on the active roster during the playing season were accounted for.
Both the Western New England men's and women's tennis teams will return to the courts this coming fall to begin their 2025-2026 seasons.
