SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 12, 2026) – Western New England women's basketball's
Sophie Hedge put together a memorable week, one that saw the junior score a career-high 33 points in a road Conference of New England (CNE) game over Endicott College, leading to CNE weekly honors for the second straight week.
Hedge's 33 points over the Gulls came by way of shooting 13/20 from the field, going 4/7 from the outside. Hedge also sank all three free throws in the win. To add to her point total, the Guilford, Connecticut native picked up eight rebounds and three steals for the Golden Bears, completing a career night, becoming the first player from Western New England women's basketball to record a 30+ point game since 2018.
Hedge finished off the weekend by continuing her dominance on the court, picking up 18 points on 5/14 shooting, going 4/11 from the outside while collecting a rebound, two assists, and a steal against the University of New England. Hedge is now averaging 16.5 points per game for the Golden Bears while collecting over seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal per game.
The WNE women's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday, January 14, at 5:00 PM, taking on Nichols College on the road in Conference of New England action.
