COLLEGEVILLE, PA. (January 17, 2026) – WNE traveled to Pennsylvania and Ursinus College for the Annual Will Abele Invitational. The Golden Bears were riding the momentum of their debut at the National Duals. They would take that momentum and run with it, taking over the Will Abele Invitational.
Maddie Ripley,
Linda Holeman, and
Atiyana Williams won their weight classes, with
Victoria Orender and
Alicia Tucker grabbing second, and
Tanya Teneva earning third in their weight classes.
How it Happened:
- Victoria Orender had a great day on the mat. It started with a win via VFA at 1:00, up 2-0. Orender then won the quarterfinal match via VFA at 0:31, up 2-0. In the semifinals, it was another win via VFA at 2:20, up 6-1 for Orender. Then, in the 110 lb. weight class final, Orender would fall via VFA at 1:18, down 3-2 to the top-ranked wrestler in the 110 lb. weight class at the invitational.
- Maddie Ripley and Aislin Kellner both had great days in the 117 lb. weight class bracket. Kellner placed sixth in the bracket. Kellner had a tough start in the round of 16 by losing via VFA at 4:26, down 6-4. After that, Kellner got two wins in a row. A win via VFA at 2:21, up 4-0, and a win via VFA at 1:08, up 4-0 again, versus the eighth-ranked wrestler in that weight class bracket. Kellner picked up another win versus the fifth-ranked wrestler via VFA at 1:02, up 4-2. Kellner dropped the fifth-place match via VFA at 0:41, down 4-0, but still placed sixth.
- Maddie Ripley started as the top-ranked wrestler in the 117 lb. weight class. Ripley won the round of 16 match via VFA at 0:40, up 8-0, and won the quarterfinals match versus the 8-seed via VFA at 0:13, up 4-0. It was a 10-0 win via VSU at 1:32 for Ripley in the semifinals versus the 4-seed. Ripley made the championship for the 117 lb. weight class. Ripley faced the second-ranked wrestler in the 117 lb. weight class bracket and won handily. Ripley won via VSU at 2:08, up 7-0. Maddie Ripley was the Will Abele Invitational 117 lb. weight class winner.
- Linda Holeman won the second weight class of the day for the Golden Bears. Holeman entered the invitational, like Ripley, as the number one seed in the 124 lb. weight class bracket. Holeman won via VSU1 at 4:20, up 12-2 in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, Holeman won 10-0 via VSU at 3:14. Then, in the semifinals, versus the 5-seed, Holeman won a third consecutive match via VSU1 at 3:39, up 13-1. Finally, versus the third overall seed in the bracket, Holeman won via VFA at 1:01, up 2-0. Linda Holeman was the Will Abele Invitational 124 lb. weight class champion.
- Jaden Coppins took on the 131 lb. weight class bracket on Saturday. Coppins won via VFO in the round of 16 and advanced to the quarterfinals, where Coppins won via VFA at 1:19, up 8-0. That advanced Coppins to the semifinals. Unfortunately, Coppins ran into the top seed in the 131 lb. weight class and lost via VSU1 at 3:29, down 12-2. Coppins would then wrestle for third place, but fell to the third seed in the bracket via VPO1, 12-4. Coppins got fourth place in the 131 lb. weight class.
- Tanya Teneva was one of six Golden Bears to place in the top three of their weight class brackets. Teneva won the round of 16 match via VFA at 2:43, up 6-0. Teneva followed that with a quarterfinal victory via VSU at 0:57, up 10-0. Teneva would fall in the semifinals via VPO1, 8-4. However, that was not the last from Teneva. Teneva went to the third-place match and won via VSU at 2:50, 10-0. Tanya Teneva finished in third place in the 138 lb. weight class for WNE.
- Rylee Donohue continued the WNE success in the 145 lb. weight class. Donohue earned a quick 10-0 win via VSU at 0:55. Donohue would drop the quarterfinal match via VPO1 with the score tied at 6-6. Donohue would bounce back with a 12-8 win via VPO1 in the consolation bracket. Then, Donohue picked up a win in the next match, 10-0 via VSU at 1:29. Donohue would win the fifth-place match via VFA, up 6-2, to claim fifth place for WNE at the Will Abele Invitational.
- The 180 lb. weight class was WNE's best of the day. They would have a placer in first, second, and fourth. In fourth place was Mikayla Maloy. Unranked going into the invitational, Maloy defeated the six-seed via VSU at 4:23, up 10-0. Then, Maloy defeated the three-seed via VFA at 3:59, up 6-4. Maloy fell in the semifinals via VSU at 2:17, 10-0, and then also fell in the third-place match via VPO, down 6-0. Maloy earned fourth place with a great run in the 180 lb. weight class.
- Alicia Tucker had a great day for WNE as well. Tucker grabbed a quick victory in the round of 16, 10-0, via VSU at 2:17. Tucker then picked up a win via VFA at 1:32, up 6-0, versus the number 2-seed. The semifinals saw Tucker win 10-0 via VSU at 2:17 to advance to the championship, where Tucker met a teammate, the number 1-seed. Tucker would lose a great contest in the championship via VPO1, 6-4, and placed second in the 180 lb. weight class. Tucker entered the day unranked in the bracket.
- Atiyana Williams was the top wrestler in the 180 lb. weight class entering the day. Williams would leave the invitational as the top wrestler in the weight class. Williams won the first match via VFA at 0:50, up 6-0. Then, won the quarterfinals up 6-0 as well. That win was via VFA at 1:46. Williams then won via VFA at 0:36 in the semifinals, up 2-0, against the 4-seed in the 180 lb. weight class bracket. Then, in the championship, Williams won a great match versus a teammate via VPO1, 6-4. Atiyana Williams was the champion of the 180 lb. weight class at the Will Abele Invitational.
- Samantha Rabkin picked up a top-6 finish on Saturday. Rabkin won via VFA at 2:51 when tied 4-4 in the first round. Rabkin would drop the quarterfinal match via VPO1, 6-1. Rabkin did not stop fighting, winning the next match via VFA at 2:31, up 3-0, and then the fifth-place match via VFA at 0:42, up 2-0. Rabkin placed fifth in the 207 lb. weight class bracket.
- Emily Dudar finished in the top six placers for WNE. Dudar wrestled in the 207 lb. weight class for WNE. Dudar won in the quarterfinals via VSU at 2:28, up 10-0. Then, Dudar fell in the quarterfinals via VFA at 1:46, down 8-4. Unfortunately, Dudar would drop the third-place match via VPO1, 5-1, but with a strong fight in the bracket, Dudar finished in fourth place for WNE.
- With three first-place finishers, two second-place finishers, one third-place finisher, three fourth-place finishers, two fifth-place finishers, and one sixth-place finisher, the Golden Bears earned first place in the invitational out of eighteen.
