SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 19, 2026) – Western New England University men's soccer first year defender Grayson Haskins has earned Conference of New England (CNE) Rookie of the Week honors following his first two starts of his collegiate career for the Golden Bears on October 14 and October 17. Haskins appeared and started in both contests, helping Western New England earn a 1-1 draw against Clark University on Wednesday before contributing to the Golden Bears' 4-0 victory over Johnson & Wales University on Saturday.
Against Clark, Haskins played 83 minutes as Western New England battled to a draw at Granger Field. The Golden Bears secured the result due to a stout defensive effort, which Haskins was a major part of, that only allowed one goal during the entire 90 minutes.
Haskins followed that performance with an important contribution in Saturday's shutout victory over Johnson & Wales at Suprenant Field. The freshman recorded an assist on Cole Casinghino's opening goal in the 30th minute, which proved to be the game-winning goal. Again, his top-notch defense helped the Golden Bears keep the Wildcats scoreless and earn the shutout victory. Haskins played 87 minutes and recorded one shot in the 4-0 win.
Across the two matches, Haskins totaled 170 minutes played, one assist and one shot as Western New England went unbeaten over the two-game stretch.
Haskins and the Golden Bears will return to Suprenant Field on Wednesday, October 21, when they host Gordon College at 3:30 p.m.
