Eves Nets Five, Golden Bears Pick Up Win In Hilton Head

Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 10, 2026) – The Western New England women's lacrosse team was led by senior Lina Eves, who netted five goals on Tuesday morning at the Hilton Head Lacrosse Spring Break event, leading the Golden Bears to a 19-5 victory over the Aggies of Delaware Valley University.

How it Happened:

First Quarter:
  • Western New England opened the game with the first two goals as Lina Eves started hot from the field, scoring a pair of goals before the midway mark of the opening quarter, giving Western New England a 2-0 lead. Ella Henry picked up an assist on WNE's first goal of the game to add to her team's lead in points this season. 
  • Delaware Valley struck with five minutes remaining in the quarter when Charley Lengei Kramer scored the first of the afternoon for the Aggies. Western New England responded just 30 seconds later when Samantha Montecalvo scored on an assist from Allison Cyr, giving the Golden Bears their two-goal lead back. 
  • The Golden Bears tallied three goals in a 1:14 span to end the opening quarter to take a 6-1 lead over Del Val. Eves fired home two more goals, picking up four in the first quarter, while Montecalvo added another of her own, as the Golden Bears took a 6-1 lead at the end of the quarter. 
  • WNE took eight shots in the quarter, putting six on goal, all of which found twine. 
Second Quarter:
  • WNE scored five straight goals overall as Sydney Miles capped off the scoring run just 20 seconds into the second quarter, scoring while a player up, giving the Golden Bears a 7-1 lead. Delaware Valley struck for a pair of goals following the goal from Miles, getting back within four, 7-3, in just 27 seconds. Western New England, which had much success on draw controls on Tuesday, answered with a Carlie Francis tally to quickly stop the Aggies' run. 
  • The Golden Bears buried four goals in a row to end the quarter on a high note, taking a commanding eight-goal lead at the end of the half. Ella Henry, Faith Ampuja, Lyndsey Bunnell, and Allison Cyr found the back of the net for Western New England, giving the Blue and Gold a 13-4 lead at the break. 
  • The Golden Bears took nine shots in the second quarter, putting five on goal. Emily Picolla made a pair of saves for Western New England in the opening half. 
Third Quarter:
  • Just four goals were scored by the two teams in the third quarter. Lyndsey Buennell opened the scoring for Western New England on an assist from Alyssa Pereira, who notched her first career collegiate point. Sydney Miles netted her second goal of the game at the 8:05 mark of the quarter to put WNE ahead 15-4, while Alyssa Pereira found the back of the net for the first time this season with 7:14 to play, giving the Golden Bears a 16-4 advantage. 
  • Delaware Valley found twine with 4:55 to play in the quarter as Piper Jones netted a goal for the Aggies, as WNE led 16-5 after the third quarter. 
  • Both teams were slowed on offense in the third quarter, as WNE produced three total shots and Delaware Valley four. 
Fourth Quarter:
  • With the game well in hand, Western New England added three more goals to end the quarter while the WNE defense held Delaware Valley to no shots in the final 15 minutes. Lina Eves produced her team-leading fifth goal of the game, while both Lyndsey Bunnell and Alyssa Pereira struck for their second goals, extending WNE's lead to 12. 
  • The WNE defense stumped Delaware Valley as Christina Harris and Ella Henry picked up caused turnovers in the game, while seeing the Aggies commit 13 total turnovers in the game. The Golden Bears went on to defeat Delaware Valley by a final score of 19-5.
