Baseball Falls To No. 4 Salve Regina 6-3 At Trelease Park Monday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 6, 2026) – The Western New England baseball team fell in non-conference action on Monday afternoon from Trelease Park to the visiting Seahawks of Salve Regina University, who came into the game ranked fourth overall in the latest top 25 poll. Ryan Montini led the WNE offense with four hits
in the loss.

Records:
  • Western New England: 10-12
  • No. 4 Salve Regina University: 18-2
How it Happened:

First Inning:
  • The Seahawks struck first in the top of the first inning after Aiden Bisaillon got into trouble early. Salve's Jake Harring was hit by a pitch, followed by a Shea Donovan single to quickly put runners on base. After Bisaillon got an out, Evan O'Rourke notched a single to right field to score one, giving the Seahawks a 1-0 lead. Despite giving up a run, all three outs in the inning came by way of a strikeout for the first-year.
  • The Golden Bears responded quickly in the bottom of the inning, putting two runs on the board to take a 2-1 lead. Leo Paragarino and Tyler Kornacki continued their strong efforts at the plate, picking up hits to get on base. Ryan Montini came up with a two-out, two-RBI double to right-center field, giving the Blue and Gold a 2-1 lead.
Second Inning:
  • Bisaillon got the first out of the inning, but Salve Regina roared back for two in the frame to take a 3-2 lead when Jake Harring singled to center field, followed by a Shane Williams single to left field, giving the Seahawks a one-run edge.
Third Inning:
  • Salve scored in the top of the third frame, marking the third straight inning to open the game in which the Seahawks picked up a run in an inning. Danny Rogers led off with a double and came around to eventually score on a sacrifice fly from Elliot Hamilton, giving the Seahawks a 4-2 lead.
Fourth Inning:
  • Bisaillon put up his first zero in the top of the fourth while the Golden Bears came away with their third run of the game in the bottom of the inning after a fielding error with the bases loaded brought home Tyler Waterbury, who singled to open the game, as WNE trailed by one, 4-3, after four innings of play.
Seventh Inning:
  • The Seahawks came up with two runs in the top of the seventh off Ryan Makowski, who replaced Bisaillon in the inning. The inning featured two hits from Salve and an error from the Golden Bears. A groundout from Danny Rogers and a pinch-hit RBI single from Dylan Cimini gave the Seahawks a 6-3 lead.
  • Western New England put two runners aboard in the bottom of the frame when Ryan Montini and Tyler Waterbury picked up two-out singles, but the Golden Bears couldn't advance the runners any further, seeing the Seahawks hang onto their three-run lead.
Ninth Inning:
  • Jason Pinsonnault and Kyle Welsh combined to shut down the Salve offense in the top of the ninth while the Golden Bears put two runners on with one out, seeing Tyler Kornacki and Ryan Montini pick up hits, but WNE couldn't string any runs together, falling short, 6-3.
