How it Happened:

Second Inning:
  • Both teams had just one hit to begin the opening two innings in the second meeting of the season between the two squads. Connor Flynn made the start for Western New England, opposed by Springfield's Adam Crocker. Andrew Florek had a one-out single in the bottom of the second frame but didn't move up any bases as Crocker got out of the inning with a strikeout and a fly out.
Third Inning:
  • The Pride opened the scoring in the top of the third inning, seeing Chris Balchius walk, followed by a single from Michael Lapere, putting runners on the corners with one out. Springfield's next batter, Tyler Casey, walked, but on the final pitch of the walk, Flynn tossed a wild pitch, scoring one, giving Springfield a 1-0 lead. An RBI groundout from Nick Casey plated the second run for the Pride in the inning, who took a 2-0 lead after the top of the third.
  • WNE responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, coming away with a two-out rally. Leo Paragarino singled, Tyler Waterbury walked, and Tyler Kornacki drove in both runs on a two-RBI double, tying the score at two. Ryan Montini executed the third WNE hit with two outs in the inning, picking up an RBI single up the middle to score Kornacki, giving WNE a 3-2 lead.
Fourth Inning:
  • Flynn couldn't get out of the top of the fourth inning with an out, giving up a pair of runs before exiting the game as Springfield tallied four times in the inning overall to take their lead back. Three hits from the Pride and an error for Western New England in the inning saw SC take a 6-3 lead after the top of the fourth inning.
Fifth Inning:
  • The Pride came away with another run in the top of the fifth frame off Sullivan Quirk after a leadoff double from Jack Dunaisky, Kyle Mitchell singled to right field with two outs to give the Pride a 7-3 lead.
  • Western New England got the run back in the bottom of the inning after Tyler Waterbury doubled to begin the frame, advanced to third, and came around to score on a Ryan Montini sacrifice fly. Western New England trailed 7-4 after five innings of play.
Sixth Inning:
  • Springfield College cashed in for another run in the sixth inning when Tyler Casey earned an RBI single, giving the Pride an 8-4 lead.
  • The Golden Bears had a response for the second straight inning as Leo Paragarino had a sacrifice fly that scored Noah Schermerhorn, getting WNE back within three, 8-5. A pair of wild pitches with the bases loaded plated two more Golden Bears in the inning, who trailed by one after six, 8-7.
Seventh Inning:

Ninth Inning:

  • WNE added just one more in the bottom of the frame when Ryan Montini singled up the middle to score Tyler Waterbury, but Western New England's eight runs on the afternoon wouldn't be enough, falling to Springfield 13-8.
