Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" Sophomore Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) and freshman Caitlin Gelber (Centereach, NY) each scored two goals leading the Western New England College field hockey team to a 6-0 win over visiting Elms College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Wednesday.
Senior Alyssa Katz (Cortlandt Manor, NY) assisted on both goals by Eggert, while junior Stephanie Gildart (Portland, ME) assisted on both of Gelber’s goals. The win gave the Golden Bears a 7-0 record in the conference and 14-3 overall mark that ties the school record for wins set by last year’s squad.
Freshman Brenna Fitzgerald (Manchester, NH) scored her first collegiate goal for the Golden Bears with 3:00 remaining in the game. Junior Suzanne Loutrel (Springfield, VT) rounded out the scoring for WNEC, tallying her third goal of the season with 2:11 left in regulation.
Junior goalkeeper Colleen Strunk (Stoneham, MA) was outstanding for the visiting Blazers, making 24 saves. Elms is now 3-9 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
