NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Sophomore Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) scored in the first half and freshman Caitlyn Gelber (Centereach, NY) added an insurance goal in the second half to lead the Western New England College field hockey team to a 2-0 win over Smith College Thursday.

Gelber assisted on Eggert's goal at 14:52 of the opening half while junior Alison Jameson (Brattleboro, VT)had the assist on Gelber's score at 14:30 of the final stanza.

Senior goalie Jillian Brown (Plymouth, MA) had two saves for the Golden Bears.

Western New England College improves its record to 8-2 after winning for the sixth time in its last seven outings.
