Box Score WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Mike Majesty (Chicago, IL) scored his first collegiate hat trick and added two assists to lead the Western New England College men's hockey team to a surprising 7-2 victory over Plymouth State University in a non conference game Sunday at the Olympia Ice Center.
Senior Pat Henderson (Marlton, NJ), junior Mike Amato (Mt. Laurel, NJ), sophomore Shawn Longley (Lewiston, ME), and freshman Hank Levin (Lido Beach, NY) each contributed a goal and assist as the Golden Bears (2-7-2) won for only the second time in 11 contests. The seven goals also was a season high and came less than 24 hours after WNEC tied Franklin Pierce 6-6 in overtime Saturday night.
Western New England College led 3-1 after the opening period and 6-2 after the second stanza. Majesty (who tallied two goals against Franklin Pierce) scored once in the first period and twice in the middle period, all on power play goals.
Sophomore goalie Jamie Babineau (Medway, MA) finished with 34 saves for his first win of the season.
Plymouth State (7-4) received goals from senior Nick DeBaggis (Topsfield, MA) and junior Andy Herlihy (Bow, NH). The Panthers had their three-game winning streak snapped in the process.
