Cori Eggert and Sarah McQuarrie pace Western New England College past Becker

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" Juniors Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) and Sarah McQuarrie (Windham, ME) each scored two goals to lead second-seeded Western New England College to an easy 5-0 victory over seventh-seeded Becker College Sunday in a quarterfinal round game of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Field Hockey Tournament.

Senior Allison Jameson (Brattleboro, VT) also had another big game with a goal and three assists as the Golden Bears improved their record to 13-7 with their fourth consecutive win. Senior Stephanie Gildart (Portland, ME) contributed an assist.

Eggert gave Western New England College an early 1-0 lead with her team best 15th goal of the season 8:18 into the contest. McQuarrie then tallied twice in 2:33 span as the Golden Bears took a 3-0 lead at intermission.

Western New England College dominated the entire game holding the Hawks to no shots. Sophomore goalie Ciara Lawrence (Costa Mesa, CA) made 15 saves for Becker (2-16).

The Golden Bears (13-7) will host a semifinal round game of the NAC Tournament at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 31) against an opponent to be decided.
