Box Score WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College baseball team scored runs in six of nine innings en route to a 7-1 victory over Westfield State in a non conference game Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Bears (21-6) have won six of seven games on the current road trip and nine of their last 10 contests.
Sophomore second baseman Ryan Kravontka (Glastonbury, CT) had two hits, including a RBI double in the second while sophomore designated hitter Travis Schwamb (West Springfield, MA) contributed two singles.
Senior second baseman Jason Connelly (Scituate, MA) laced a two-run single in the fourth that gave the Golden Bears a 5-0 lead. Sophomore third baseman Josh Jacobs (Essex Junction, VT) had a double and pair of sacrifice flies. Junior center fielder Garrison Ward (Wyckoff, NJ) walked twice, singled, scored three times, and had a sacrifice fly.
Junior Eric Smolin (Westford, MA) went seven innings for the win allowing seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Freshman Rick Muir (Easton, CT) finished up.
Western New England College ends its week-long trip at Brandeis Thursday (April 13).
