CHICOPEE, Mass. - Western New England College's field hockey team exploded for three goals in each half and easily defeated host Elms College Saturday (Sept. 16) in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener for both teams.

It was the highest scoring output of the season for the Golden Bears who won their second straight contest after starting the season with four losses.

Senior tri-captain Stephanie Gildart (Portland, ME) opened the scoring with her first two goals of the year while junior Emily Popham (Orange, MA) added a goal and assist.

Junior goalkeeper Emilie Donka (White River Junction, VT) made two saves in compiling her first shutout of the season.

Elms falls to 0-5.
